The View From The Porch is a lighthearted exploration of singledom through comedy and song. The show has 15 songs including some jazz, some swing, some music theatre and soul. The presentation is simple: a singer, a pianist, a piano, two frocks, and an accordion. The stand-up links use personal experience and characterization to tell the story of a relationship hinterland. The show introduces the concepts of “The Porch”, “The Shelf”, and “The Hearth”. The comedy is observational, quirky and personal.
Originally conceived in February 2002, The View From The Porch has since played to packed houses at The Battersea Barge, The Canal Cafe Theatre, The Battersea Arts Centre and The Space.
The show runs at an hour and a quarter with an interval, and can be performed with or without comedy links. We also have a shorter 30min version of the show.
