The Lord had me really digging in to find news items He wanted posted on His Signs Of The Times page, for He said He had much to show me this morning.
The first story was a bright ray of light amidst news of war, bird flu, cyclones, nuclear posturing, etc. The headline read, "Eclectic Group Crosses Sahara for Peace". As you read the story further, it tells of a group of ten - including an Israeli ex-fighter pilot and former prisoner of war in Syria, Iranians, Iraqis, Palestinians, even a New York City Firefighter who survived 9/11, as they trek 3,400 miles across the Sahara - carrying a olive tree from Jerusalem - for peace. Actually sponsored by a non prophet conflict resolution group, the participants are "to confront divisive religious and political issues in a setting where they depend on each other for survival." After an overnight ferry ride across the Red Sea, a day touring Cairo's pyramids and three days in Egypt's white desert, the team began the difficult task of crossing the Sahara's barren dunes.
"Somebody's got to make that first step," said Israeli Gil Fogiel.
The next story He showed me was titled, "Afghan Man Prosecuted For Becoming A Christian, Could Face Death Penalty". Becoming a Christian is considered a crime in Afghanistan under this country's Islamic Shariah law. Our new brother in Christ, Abdul Rahman, 41, was arrested last month after his family accused him of becoming a Christian.
It is believed to be the first trial of its kind in Afghanistan. The judge was quoted as saying, "We are not against any particular religion in the world. But in Afghanistan, this sort of thing is against the law...it is an attack on Islam."
The third and final story He has asked me to comment on has a headline that reads: "Rabbi Calls For 'UN of Religions'". Reading further, it details how Chief Rabbi of Israel Yona Metzger is calling for the creation of a ONE-WORLD BODY with representatives from major religious groups from around the world.
Anyone else read it? Remember antichrist's false prophet doing this exact same thing? Obviously we are citing a work of fiction here however Holy Spirit inspires all types of writings to reach the lost from a variety of venues. The point of the writing was that all that antichrist does will attempt to create a new world order - a one world government, one world currency, ONE WORLD RELIGION - that 'religion' which will eventually worship and bow before antichrist himself.
