The Leyland
Leopard played a very significant role in the Ribble story during
the 1960s and 1970s.
The first Leopards arrived as Tour Coaches in 1961, the last
arrived 21 years later - as Tour/Private Hire coaches ! In the
meantime large numbers of Leopards arrived in bus, dual purpose
and coach form in all four lengths a Leopard came in - 30ft, 33ft,
36ft and 12 metre.
Bodywork was provided by Marshall, MCW and Weymann - buses; Marshall, Weymann and Willowbrook - dual-purpose and Alexander, Duple, ECW, Harrington and Plaxton and Willowbrook - coaches.
In addition Ribble received several used Leopards through inter-group and inter-NBC transfers and the two well-known former Michelin L2s which spent most of their lives at Grange-over-Sands.
