Vehicle Project

Vehicle Profiles

The first part of the Vehicle Project is to record and trace all known survivors from the Ribble fleet. As the Ribble Buses Website has a policy of concentrating on "real" Ribble buses this means that we are endeavouring to trace all vehicles delivered or acquired by takeover prior to the Stagecoach era.
This project is being undertaken at the Ribble Buses Yahoo e-Group and we would welcome any details of former Ribble vehicles you may know of in your area. Please e-mail them to us.
We are currently in the process of building full listings of the Ribble fleet. The following pages list all examples of the vehicle type supplied new to Ribble/ Standerwick / Scout over the years. Similar listings are being prepared for acquired vehicles.

Photo Files

Save Burlingham bodied PD3 1583
We are currently developing links to Webshot Albums containing the various images which have been provided by members of the Ribble Buses Yahoo Group. As these albums are opened, links will be provided here for you to access them.

The second part of the project is to record photographically the Ribble fleet. This will be a very long term project, but the ultimate goal is to attempt to collect photos of every Ribble vehicle.

1583 is a Burlingham bodied Leyland Titan PD3/4 which served Ribble for many years. After disposal, 1583 became an exhibition vehicle and spent some time on these duties in the UK before being refurbished and shipped to Canada for use by the British Olympic Team at the Montreal Olympics in 1976.
1583 still survives in Canada and a feasibility study is under way to repatriate this historic bus to Lancashire.
If you are interested in being involved please e-mail putting 1583 in the subject line
