    1. BOOTCFG Configures, queries, or changes Boot.ini file settings.
    2. DEFRAG Locates and consolidates fragmented boot files, data files, and folders on local volumes.
    3. DISKPART Manages disks, partitions, or volumes.
    4. DRIVERQUERY Queries for a list of drivers and driver properties.
    5. DSADD Adds a computer, contact, group, organization unit, or user to a directory.
    6. DSGET Displays selected attributes of a computer, contact, group, organizational unit, server or user in a directory.
    7. DSMOD Modifies an existing user, computer, contact, group or organizational units in a directory.
    8. DSMOVE Moves any object from its current location in the directory to a new location, as long as the move can be accomodated within a single domain controller, and renames an object without moving it in the directory tree
    9. DSQUERY Queries and finds a list of computers, groups, organizational units, servers or users in the directory using specified search criterion.

    34. PRNPORT Creates, deletes, and lists standard TCP/IP printer ports, in addition to displaying and changing port configuration.
    35. PRNQCTL Prints a test page, pauses or resumes a printer, and clears a printer queue.
    36. RELOG Extracts performance counters from performance counter logs into other formats, such as text-TSV (for tab-delimited text), text-CSV (for comma-delimited text), binary-BIN, or SQL.
    37. RSS Enables Remote Storage, which is used for extending server disk space.
    38. SC Retrieves and sets information about services. Tests and debugs service programs.
    39. SCHTASKS Schedules commands and programs to run periodically or at a specific time. Adds and removes tasks from the schedule, starts and stops tasks on demand, and displays and changes scheduled tasks.

    41. SYSTEMINFO Queries the system for basic system configuration information.

    44. TRACERPT Processes event trace logs or real-time data from instrumented event trace providers and allows you to generate trace analysis reports and CSV (comma-delimited) files for the events generated.
    45. TSECIMP Imports assignment information from an Extensible Markup Language (XML) file into the TAPI server security file (tsec.ini).
    46. TYPEPERF Writes performance counter data to the command window or to a supported log file format.
    47. WMIC Eases the use of Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) and systems managed through WMI.
  22. Changes to MS-DOS Commands
    1. CHCP Changes code pages for all Command Prompt windows.
    2. DISKCOMP Command-line options /1 and /8 are not supported.
    3. DISKPERF No longer needed to act upon a server computer. You can still use diskperf for remote administration.
    4. DISKCOPY Command-line option /1 is not supported.
    5. DOSKEY Available for all character-based programs that accept buffered input. Doskey has been improved by a series of enhancements.
    6. FORMAT Supports 1.44 MB floppy drive only. 20.8 MB floptical (magneto-optical) drive is no longer supported. Command-line options /B, /S, /U, /1, /4, and /8 are no longer supported.
    7. LABEL The caret (^) and ampersand (&) symbols can be used in a volume label.
    8. MODE The mode lptn[:][cols=c][lines=n] and mode lptn[:][c][,[n]] syntaxes are no longer supported.
    9. PRINT Command-line options /B:size, /C, /M:ticks2, /P, /Q:qsize, /S:ticks3, /T, and /U:ticks1 are not supported.
    10. PROMPT New character combinations enable you to add ampersands ($a), parentheses ($c and $f), and spaces ($s) to your prompt.
    11. RECOVER Recovers files only.
    12. RMDIR New /S command-line option deletes directories containing files and subdirectories.
    13. SORT Does not require %TEMP% environment variable. File size is unlimited.
    14. XCOPY New /G command-line option creates decrypted destination files.

    11. FDISK Not currently supported. Use the DISKPART command, which enables you to manage disks, partitions, or volumes.
    12. INCLUDE Multiple configurations of the MS-DOS subsystem are not supported.
    13. INTERLNK Not currently supported.
    14. INTERSVR Not currently supported.
    15. JOIN Increased partition size and an improved file system eliminate the need to join drives.
    16. MEMMAKER MS-DOS subsystem memory usage is automatically optimized.
    17. MENUCOLOR Multiple configurations of the MS-DOS subsystem are not supported.
    18. MENUDEFAULT Multiple configurations of the MS-DOS subsystem are not supported.
    19. MENUITEM Multiple configurations of the MS-DOS subsystem are not supported.

    22. MSBACKUP Use the NTBACKUP command for computers with tape drives, or the XCOPY command for computers without tape drives.
    23. MSCDEX It is unnecessary to configure the MS-DOS subsystem to use CD-ROM drives. Windows XP provides access to CD-ROM drives for the MS-DOS subsystem.
    24. MSD Use the System Information snap-in. To start System Information, click Start, click Run, and then type msinfo32.
    25. NUMLOCK Not currently supported.
    26. POWER Not currently supported.
    27. RESTORE Not currently supported.
    28. SCANDISK Not currently supported. Use the CHKDSK command, which enables you to create and display a status report for a disk based on the file system. CHKDSK also lists and corrects errors on the disk.
    29. SMARTDRV Caching for the MS-DOS subsystem is automatic.
    30. SUBMENU Multiple configurations of the MS-DOS subsystem are not supported.
    31. SYS Windows XP will not fit on a standard 1.2 MB or 1.44 MB floppy disk.
    32. UNDELETE Not currently supported.
    33. UNFORMAT Not currently supported.

  24. MS-DOS commands no longer available on Windows XP 64-Bit Edition
    1. APPEND Enables programs to open data files in specified folders as if these files were in the current folder.
    2. DEBUG Starts Debug.exe, a program that you can use to test and debug MS-DOS executable files.
    3. EDIT Starts MS-DOS Editor, which creates and changes ASCII text files.
    4. EDLIN Starts Edlin.exe, a line-oriented text editor with which you can create and change ASCII files.
    5. EXE2BIN Converts .exe (executable files) to binary format.
    6. EXPAND Expands one or more compressed files.
    7. FASTOPEN Windows XP does not use this command. It is accepted only for compatibility with MS-DOS files.
    8. FORCEDOS Starts the specified program in the MS-DOS subsystem. This command is necessary only for those MS-DOS programs that are not recognized as MS-DOS programs by Windows XP.
    9. GRAPHICS Loads a program into memory that allows you to print on a printer the displayed contents of the screen when you are using a color or graphics adapter.
    10. LOADFIX Ensures that a program is loaded above the first 64KB of conventional memory, and then runs the program.
    11. LOADHIGH (LH) Loads a program into the upper memory area (UMA). Loading a program into the UMA leaves more room in conventional memory for other programs.
    12. MEM Displays information about allocated memory areas, free memory areas, and programs that are currently loaded into memory in the MS-DOS subsystem.
    13. NLSFUNC Loads information specific to country/region. Windows XP does not use this command. It is accepted only for compatibility with MS-DOS files.
    14. SETVER Sets the MS-DOS version number that the MS-DOS subsystem reports to a program.
    15. SHARE Windows XP does not use this command. It is accepted only for compatibility with MS-DOS files.
