Places of Palouranos |
The plane of Palouranos is divided into five great countries. Each country used to revel in the care of one of the five gods of the world, but, since the gods went missing, balance was gone, and the countries started warring against each other. |
Chrysagros, the Gilded Fields
Chrysagros, the Gilded Fields, is the white country in the plane of Palouranos. Its capitol is Tatalos. Since the gods went missing (they are thought to have abandoned the plane), ambitious emperors have came to rule Tatalos, and, with its mighty army, the city-empire has managed to rule over most of the plane, forcing taxes on other countries' citizens. Near Tatalos are the Pyramids of the Gilded Fields, a monument in honor of the Wind God. The Pyramids are one of the plane's five wonders, and are said to hold the spirits of the brave heroes who died for Tatalos. Also located in Chrysagros is Myrmidafos, a great colony home to a hard-working race of ant-people, the Myrmex. |
Limnitranos, the Great Lake
Limnitranos, the Great Lake, is the blue country in the plane of Palouranos. It's home to the most brilliant thinkers Palouranos has ever seen, who form the Council of Philosophers. The Council are a selective group who have been trying to find the answers to the absence of the gods, and trying to shape the world's future. Limnitranos's capitol is Noimos, a portuary city. Located in Noimos is the country's wonder to the Sea God, the Lighthouse of the Great Lake, a beacon which has been guiding the many seafaring adventurers born in the country. Lake Limnitranos, which gives the country's name, takes most of its area. Many mysteries roam in the Great Lake, and many beasts lurk in its mist. Lake Limnitranos is populated by limnades, the lake-nymphs. But they are not the only kind of nymphs in the country: there are also the oceanids (sea-nymphs) and naiads (river-nymphs), but limnades are the only ones able to fly. |
Elosapios, the Foul Glade
Elosapios, the Foul Glade, is the black country in the plane of Palouranos. It's perhaps the only country Tatalos Empire hasn't managed to rule yet, due to the treacherous traps that await in the bogs. Elosapios's capitol is Fedes, seat of the medusa queen Arionide. Fedes is located within an underground cave in the middle of the country, and is inhabited by gorgons (mostly medusas). Near Fedes is located the Mausoleum of the Foul Glade, a giant tomb in honor of the Death Goddess, said to be one of the entrances to her domais, known as the Underworld. The other entrance to the Underworld is located in the city of Kolasia, in the country's edge. Aside from medusas, Elosapios is also inhabited by humans, eleions (bog nymphs) and many wild beasts. |
Flamoros, the Ashen Peaks
Flamoros, the Ashen Peaks, is the red country in the plane of Palouranos. It's the country that felt the most the gods' disappearance, as it currently consists mostly of ruins, and have been conquered and is now mostly ruled by the Tatalos Empire. Flamoros's capitol is Trece, a minotaur city whose center stands atop the Great Volcano of the Fire God. Next to Trece, is Mount Pyros, where stands the Colossus of the Ashen Peaks, the country's wonder for the Fire God. Located in Flamoros, are the ruins of Palida and Tanara, two otherwise prosperous human cities destroyed by Tatalos; and also the island of Ol-Fotias, ruled by giants and cyclops. |
Lampdasos, the Glint Woods
Lampdasos, the Glint Woods, is the green country in the plane of Palouranos. It is ruled by the Tatalos Empire in a way, because its true wardens are the nature nymphs, namely Dryads (tree protectors) and Alseids (fauna protectors), daughters of the Nature Goddess. Lampdasos's capitol is Kentros, a centaur city. It's located on the Kentros Valley, in the heart of the great forest. The centaurs' monument to the Nature Goddess are the Gardens of the Glint Woods, which are endless corridors of trees, flowers and scents, just outside Kentros valley. Other inhabitants of Lampdasos include humans and satyrs (half-goat, half-men). Also in the country is the ancient city of Faete, a place guarded by nymphs, which contain some of the most precious treasures the gods ever gave to mortals. |
The Oloi-Mystikos Sea
Oloi-Mystikos ("all mysteries" in Greek) is the great sea that lies beyond where any living been has ever been. It is inhabited by many mythical and dangerous beasts, and is said to be the road to mount Philotheos, the dwelling of Gods. |
Mount Philotheos
A legendary location, in the heart of Oloi-Mystikos, said to be the dwelling of Gods. No living creature has ever surpassed the perils of Oloi-Mystikos and reached Philotheos. |
