Races of Palouranos |
Humans
Each of the five great countries have its fair share of human. In Chrysagros, they are servants to Emperor Justus, either on Tatalos army (soldiers, wizards, clerics) or in the country's glorious cities. In Limnitranos, they are mostly scholar wizards from Phestos, philosophers from Noimos, or brave seafarers venturing the seas. In Elosapios, they are outnumbered by gorgons, being mostly thieves and rogues roaming the swamps. In Flamoros, they are mostly former dwellers of cities destroyed by Tatalos, who have become shamans and barbarians who devote their lives to kill Tatalos soldiers passing near the ruins. In Lampdasos, they are vastly outnumbered by centaurs, satyrs, and nymphs, and are mostly inhabitants of the forest's peripheric cities. |
Nymphs
Nymphs are minor female deities who are the god-sent guardians of Palouranos. Like humans, they are present in every one of the five countries. There are several species of nymphs, which include: Alseids - they are the guardian of the animals in the Glint Woods. Dryads - nymphs from the trees. The Hamadryad is the dryad responsible for the oldest of all trees, said to be the dwelling of the Nature Goddess in the plane, and source of all life in the forests. Eleions - nymphs from the fens and bogs. Their sight is one of the few displays of beauty in Elosapios. Hesperides - nymphs of the evening, guardians of the treasures of Faete. Leimakids - nymphs from the meadows, inhabitting Crysagros endless fields. Limnades - winged nymphs from the lakes, dwelling the surface and bottom of Lake Limnitranos. Their wings serve the double purpose of flying and swimming. Naiads - chanting nymphs from the rivers; it is extremely rare to find one. Oceanids - nymphs from the seas, inhabiting the waters of Titaneros Bay. Oreads - fire-haired nymphs from the mountains. |
Gorgons
It is said that Elosapios was once a vast and prosperous kingdom, which used to benefit from the benevolence and insightfulness of its kings. However, a woman named Arionide raised to be queen and, driven by her hunger for power, murdered her husband, the king, to rule the country herself. The gods didn't like Arionide's deeds, and cursed her, transforming her land into a oily swamp. Also, they took the lives of every man in the kingdom, and transformed all the women, including Arionide, into gorgons. The gorgons are monstrous women with terrifying features. The most common kind of gorgon are the medusas, which are women with snakes in place of hair. Medusas with more than one-hunder snakes in their head have the ability to turn their enemies into stone. Arionide, the medusa queen, has a thousand coils in her head. Aside from medusas, other kinds of gorgos also inhabit elosapios, like the graeae (sets of old female triplets that share only one eye and one tooth) and the euryale. |
Minotaurs
Minotaurs are bullfolk who dwell Trece, the capitol of Flamoros. They have been wanting to put an end to Tatalan actions on Flamoros for a while now, but they are vastly outnumbered by the glorious army of the empire. A perfect world for the minotaurs would be one in which everyone simply minded their own business. Like you can tell, they are not very communicative, neither are very fond of other races. |
Giants
Giants rule the island of Ol-Fotias, in Flamoros. They are big, dumb, and very, very strong. |
Centaurs
Centaurs dwell Kentros, the capitol of Lampdasos. They were once a very outgoing and friendly race, but have become grim and retracted since the gods - especially the Nature Goddess - went missing. |
Satyrs Satyrs are minor male deities that inhabit the Glint Woods. They are half-goat, half-human, and devote their lives to preserve the forest. |
Myrmex The myrmex are a race of ant-people dwelling the great colony of Myrmidafos, in Chrysagros. They think as a whole, and, like ants, have little sense of individuality. The sense of community and the duty of helping each other are a great deal to them, which makes them some of the most important soldiers recruited by the Tatalos Army. ![]() ![]() ![]() sketches by Peter L aka QuietArtist |
Griffins and Pegasi Griffins and pegasi are mythical creatures that roam the skies of Chrysagros. Griffins are used as mount by the Tatalos Army's air squad. Pegasi used to be revered by humans but, since the Wind God went missing, tehy started being used as a means of air transportation. |
