September Eve
The cool crisp autumn air
numbing our hands and toes
strolling through the fall fair
spreading smiles as she goes
This lithesome love of mine
still turning every head
a creature truly divine
though many years have fled
I tremble just to think
of how she must have been
afraid to even blink
and lose what I have seen
Tonight I'll take her home
after we've seen the fair
and perhaps write a poem
I'm so happy that she is there
