Joey kept on running, all the thoughts flying from her head. There was one place she could go, one place to be close to him. One place where she could forget the past for a while... or so she hoped. People came into her life and then disappeared. The one thing they never took with them were her memories. Sometimes she wished they had. Then she might not have all of the pain to live with. She finally arrived at her destination. She stood there, just staring at it. Dawson's house. It looked the same, as if nothing had changed. She knew better then that though. Everything had changed. The ladder was still there, Gail and Mitch hadn't had the heart to take it away. She slowly climbed the ladder and opened the window to Dawson's room. Looking inside, it was as if what had happened hadn't. His room was the same as it used to be, except for the fact that he wasn't there and he never would be again. The posters were where they used to be, the computer still there, his ET doll laying on his bed. It was all so familiar but so alien at the same time. She climbed into the room, like she used to. Part of her wanted to call out for Dawson, go back to the past. She and Dawson climbing into his closet and playing 'Jaws' once again. The other part of her knew better. It knew that no matter how much she wanted it, it would never happen. She layed down on "her side" of his bed pulling the ET doll close to her. Whenever she ended up there, she was always on "her side" of the bed, even though she knew it didn't matter what side of the bed she was on anymore. She slowly drifted off to sleep, memories of that day one year ago filling her dreams.
Joey watched as Dawson walked down the dock with Jen not far behind him. They were each carrying various things for the picnic they were having on the dock. "Is that everything?" Pacey asked, as Dawson and Jen sat down, unpacking what they had carried down. "Yeah it is," Dawson said simply. Pacey surveyed the food. "One thing there isn't enough of is junk food though." Joey rolls her eyes, and replied. "Well not everyone wants to rot their teeth." "I wouldn't be so sure of that," he replied. "Oh, bite me Pacey," Joey answered. "Oh I would, but I think that's more along the lines of Dawson's job," he replied with a grin. She shot him an evil look, while Jen said, "Guys, can we have one afternoon of no argueing? I mean.." "She's right. It's such a nice day, and we haven't done anything together in a long time. Can we quit the argueing and just enjoy the day and each other's company." Dawson interuptted. Pacey, jokingly shoved Dawson backwards at this time. Dawson fell into the creek. "Pacey!" Joey yelled. Moments had passed, and Dawson still hadn't come up. Pacey, Joey, and Jen exchanged worried glances. Pacey jumped into the water after Dawson, while both Joey and Jen yelled, "Dawson!?!". Pacey came up a minute later, and still there was on sign of Dawson. "Dawson!?!" Joey screamed, with tears falling down her face. Joey awoke with a start. She looked around and realized she was in Dawson's room. The dream it seemed so real. Like it was really happening again. Tears fell from her eyes, as she thought of the best friend she lost, and the best friend she found. ![]()
