Gibson F-2 (1915) |
83-1067 Gibson 1915 F-2 mandolin, blackface, 23206, vg+, OH. With the much
lusted for Handel inlaid tuners (each button a masterpiece in miniature) this is a fine and remarkable sounding
(aural purity in each vibrating string) Florentine oval hole mandolin. It has a replaced adjustable ebony bridge,
a tiny (typical) hairline at the large body scroll with a corresponding hairline at the large peghead scroll,
it shows light normal dings overall, the peghead overlay has lightened (most unusual) to a medium brown.

The tailpiece cover is engraved "The Gibson" with floral design but is so shiny that one must think that
it's a recent replacement, it bears the March 30, '09 pickguard patent and the July 4, 1911 pickguard clamp
patent, has black-white wood marquetry and ivoroid soundhole rosette, ivoroid neck binding, "The Gibson"
inlaid in script pearl in peghead, a three-piece laminated neck, and the voice of the Sirens. **$ 2629
