The Athena Widget Set

The Athena Widget Set was created at MIT and was part of the first release of the X11 system. Although it is now considered to be relatively crude in comparison to newer widget sets, it does have the advantage of universal support.

The Athena widget set has largely been supplanted by OpenLook in the Sun/Solaris environment and by Motif in most other UNIX environments.
