The Parliamentary Secretariat in the Ministry of Education is once again supporting the Third World Group and its initiatives.

In 1997, the Secretariat awarded the Group the "National Recognition Prize - Youth in Society" for its voluntary work in the social field during 1996.

In 1999, the Secretariat supported the African Week organised by the Group and held mainly at the University of Malta in which Moussé Ndiaye was one of the main guests.

In 2001, during a meeting with the Parliamentary Secretary, the Hon. Jesmond Mugliett and Mr. Paul Buhagiar, the Secretariat offered its support for the "Ritmi" project. This meeting eventually led to the creation of the "Rhythms for Life" project financed by the Youth programme of the European Union.

The Parliamentary Secretariat is now helping the Group to put up three concerts on 1, 2, 3 March, 2002, featuring percussionists Moussé Ndiaye (Senegal) and Renzo Spiteri (Malta).
