Welcome to my page of Batters

Here I will be divulging into Pakistan's offensive attack with the finest batters offered, again with a brief biography and picture. I have included a few defintions to give you some insight on batting criteria.

Definitions

Drive
a hit executed by the batter in which he swings the bat in a long arc, much like teeing off at golf, and sends the ball in one of several possible directions.()
Cover Drive
a drive (see definition) that is hit away from the batter's body, in baseball's "first-base" direction.()
Half Century
an individual score of 50 runs or more by a batter.()
Late Cut
a hit that is executed by a batter by deflecting the pitch in a slicing motion, just before it reaches the wicket keeper or catcher.()
Lofted Drive
a drive (see definition) where the ball is lofted (hit in the air) to clear infield or midfield positions.()

Inzamam-ul-Haq (Captain)

Inzy

“Inzamam-ul-Haq is a symbiosis of strength and subtlety. Power is no surprise, but sublime touch is remarkable for a man of his bulk. He loathes exercise and often looks a passenger in the field, but with a willow between his palms he is suddenly galvanised. He plays shots all round the wicket, is especially strong off his legs, and unleashes ferocious pulls and lofted drives. Imran Khan rates him the best batsman in the world against pace. Early on he is vulnerable playing across his front pad or groping outside off stump. He uses his feet well to the spinners, although this aggression can be his undoing. Inzi keeps a cool head in a crisis and has succeeded Javed Miandad as Pakistan's premier batsman, but his hapless running between wickets is legendary and most dangerous for his partners. There were no such problems against New Zealand at a boiling Lahore in 2001-02, when Inzamam belted 329, the second-highest Test score by a Pakistani and the tenth-highest by anyone…”(Abbasi). The quiet yet powerful captain behind this team glows with determination and rises with fellow players respect. He is pretty much the reason this team is having great success on and off the field.

Yousuf Youhana

Y. Youhana

“…Yousuf Youhana has quickly established himself as a stylish world-class batsman. He is no sluggard, but gathers his runs through orthodox, composed strokeplay, unlike some of his middle-order colleagues who seldom hint at permanence. He is particularly strong driving through the covers and flicking wristily off his legs. A tendency to overbalance when playing across his front leg can get him into trouble. He excels at both versions of the game, and in one-day cricket can score 20 or 30 runs before anyone notices. He is quick between the wickets and in the field. Yousuf is an automatic selection….”(Abbasi). Being the former vice-captain of the team (currently taken over by Younis Khan for his recent superb performance) is a key and almost always looked over addition to this team. He has the ability to play any bowl at will and is not scared to take risks with his batting if called for. An excellent middle-order batsman which has a knack for exploding offense. Had the most runs than any other batter in the world during the 2003 One Day International season.

Abdul Razzaq

A. Razzaq

“…His bowling - the reason he was first noticed - is characterised by a galloping approach, accuracy, and reverse-swing. But it is his batting that is more likely to win matches. He boasts a prodigious array of strokes and is particularly strong driving through cover and mid-off off both front and back foot. He has two gears: block or blast. Cut off the big shots and Abdul gets bogged down, although patience is his virtue….”(Abbasi). Confident, patient, and persistence has had this player in great positions to dig Pakistan out of deep holes. His ability to play in the middle or at the bottom of the batting order keeps opposing bowlers worried for an offence onslaught. Also, his ability to bowl medium-pace with good accuracy gives him the opportunity to round out his skills, being the most consistent all-rounder on the team. Though he has trouble getting runs during some periods of play.
