Oh, what faith you have!
Far Greater than that of Moses,
Or Adam or Eve or Abraham.
What a great faith you have,
My friend, so strong and pure and true.
You have the certainty I dream of,
The constancy I envy.
I wish I knew how you know
That what you believe is so.
You don't doubt it, or
Question it, now that you've established it,
You don't wonder if you are right.
You know what you believe, and that
You believe it is so, and the Universe is far
More beautiful to you
Than it will ever be to me,
With my puny, weak, feather of a faith.
My faith is a zillionth the size
Of a mustard seed, and I'm sure yours is
The size of a star.
I wish I could borrow your faith,
And wear it for a day, to see how it feels.
I wish I could see the fabric of existence
Through the window of your faith.
I wish --
I wish that I could believe as strongly in God
As you believe there is none.
