I, too, have clung to words.
They provided me shelter from the Fire and Hail.
I hid behind them,
Took comfort in their reassurance,
And used them to separate the world of others from my own.
As you were the woman in the walls,
I was the child in the words.
When they tried to build your prison for us,
We showed them that you could build our own far better.
But, in our imprisonment,
did we not find freedom?
