Does Joy feel Different inside me
from how it feels inside you?
Is my pain any different from yours?
Does my sorrow burrow through my soul
any more or less than yours eats you?
As i've grown, so has my capacity for
joy, sorrow, pain, and, sadly, numbness,
but does that mean that the emotions are themselves
any different, or just that i look at them differently,
and therefore think i feel them differently?
Lao Tsu says that sounds deafen the ears and colors
blind the eye. Is it so, too, that emotions numb the soul?
i don't believe it is, unless we allow it to be so.
i believe that if we are vigilant, if we continue to paint
and sculpt our lives, if we skip and laugh and cry,
then we can keep the colors of our soul fresh.
i hope i'm right, don't you?
