excerpt from Focus on Wimbledon by Angus Kix, Speedway Star & News Nov 3 1962 Despite his big score Bob Andrews occasionally disappointed. On the whole he did not make the progress expected. This could well have been the year when there was nothing to choose between him and (Ron) How. But while Ron kept showing the push and persistance, Bobby was still more of a gater. Don't get ideas, from that, that he didn't fight. Or didn't come from behind. He did-many a time. But he remained a far better front rider. Taking into account the points he did score perhaps we expected toomuch. He would have needed to be phenomenal to obilge. Just a touch more of the tiger and this could be a very great rider indeed. One of Britain's best-evers. He's so close to it it becomes annoying to see him miss out. |
