Middlewood Camping Weekend
Over the weekend of 11th - 13th August the Patrol Leader Training camp took place at Middlewood Scout Camp. The camp was lead by myself Andre and attended by the Patrol Leaders and their assistants. The campsite is not one we had used before and so there was plenty of scope for exploring and finding our way round. The weather was on the whole kind to us and we kept dry for the weekend.
The main emphasis was to teach the scouts how to be leaders and how to pass on the skills they have got. It was to be honest a fairly relaxed camp with a good atmosphere, the scouts worked hard and also had plenty of time for enjoyment in the form of fishing and canoeing on the site lake.
The highlight was a campfire on the Saturday, we used the altar fire which had been used for cooking and built it up to a merry blaze. We sat round talking and toasting marshmallows till the fire died down and people started getting tired it was great fun. Most of the food over the weekend was cooked over the wood fire and this proved a very popular activity. We are now looking forward to more camps at Middlewood
