SPORTS RESULTS
FOOTBALL
Owing to the bad weather the School XI's have not completed many fixtures yet this
season. None of our teams has been particularly successful to date. However we look
forward to a better second half of the season. One point of interest is that the School "1st
XI" or Senior Team has been entered for two Inter-Schools Trophies: the London Schools
Lipton Trophy and in a similar competition for Middlesex Schools. Naturally we have high
hopes for their success.

House Football Senior Competition 1960
The first part of this year's House Competition has provided many keenly fought
games. Wilson House are deservedly the winners up to now, though they obtained their
lead in a rather roundabout way.
Mandall House were head of the table on goal average with one match in hand.
As this was against Roberts House, most people seemed to assume that the Competition
was as good as won by Mandall House! Not only did Roberts confound all the critics
by winning, but they also achieved a sufficient goal margin to make Wilson winner
to date!
The league table to date is as follows:
| P | W | D | L | F | A |
Pts |
Wilson | 3 | 2 | 0 | 1 | 16 | 9 |
4 |
Mandall | 3 | 2 | 0 | 1 | 16 | 11 |

Junior Competition (Under 13) - Only one match of this competition has been played
to date. The result was Mandall 4 Wilson 0. The rest of the matches will be played as
soon as possible.

DOCTOR IN THE HOUSE by Veronica Huffer (5C)
On Friday 2nd and Saturday 3rd December, the Old Scholars' Drama Club put on an
admirable production of "Doctor in the House" at Rowland Hill School.
The play, which is difficult to act, went with a swing, in Brian Darton's production,
and with first-rate performances all round.
Billed as a comedy by Ted Willis, and based on the well-known novel by Richard
Gordon, the play was indeed very funny, although possibly many of the lines were not
properly appreciated by younger members of the audience. There were also some rather
charming little ditties.
Refreshments were served during the interval, but those serving had a hard time as
there was only one spoon between 170 people. However, nobody seemed to mind and I have
no doubt that the Choc Ices made up for any tea that may have gone unsweetened.
