John WEST & his wife Mary (nee WALSH) came to Geelong,
Victoria on the ship Delgany in
December 1854. From Ireland, they brought their family of four children, including
Alice, who was born during the voyage. A further four children
were born in the Geelong area. The family spent their holidays on the beach at Portarlington, east of Geelong. William Arthur West moved to Adelaide and named his house Arlington in memory of those holidays. |
