FIFTY BECOME GOOD ROADS MEN AND SIXTEEN SEE THE STONY PEN.
As a result of Recent Term of McDowell County Criminal Court,- Many Pistol Toters "Cotch". Only Three Murder Cases Marked Decrease in Crime in this County.
1. State vs. Fred Jones, toten a pistol, entered a plea of guilty and took six months on the road and $50 fine.

2. State vs. Charles Hayes, unlawful wounding.... confessed and took ten days in jail and $5.00 fine.

3. State vs. Link Hughes, misdemeaner, found not guilty.

4. State vs. Milliam Tinsley, felony, confessed and took two years in pen.

5. State vs. John Meadows, dismissed.

6. State vs. Wm. Kelly, unlawful wounding, confessed and took two years in the pen.

7. State vs. same, misdemeaner, plea of guilty, to A. and B. and fined ten dollars and costs.

8. State vs. Louis DeBarry, assault and battery, fined $5.00 and costs

9. State vs. Walter Pickett, misdemeaner, tried by jury and found not guilty, and remanded to jail to await trial for grand larceny.

10.State vs. James Payne, felony, jury trial and found not guilty.

11.State vs. Frank Schore, pistol toten, found guilty and got 8 months on the road and a $75.00 fine.

12.State vs. Wm. Tine, felony, tried by jury and found guilty

13.State vs. Mabel Wright, felony, found guilty of robbery and sent to pen for 5 years.

14.State vs. Steve Wallington, felony, found guilty by jury and drew five years in pen.

15.State vs. Henry T. Price, pistol, found guilty and goes to the roads for six months and was fined $50.00.

16.State vs. Will Carter, felony, plea of guilty and got one year in pen.

17.State vs. Otis Whitt, felony, not guilty by jury.

18.State vs. John Scott, burglary, confessed and sent to the pen for ten years.

19.State vs. Pearl Sellers, grand larceny, found guilty and sent to the pen for two years.

20.State vs. Will Montgomery, felony, found, not guilty

21.State vs. Virginia Scott, misdemeaner, found not guilty

22.State vs. Virgie Williams and Ia ? Rivers, misdemeaner, tried and found not guilty

23.State vs. G.A. McCamm, felony, verdict not guilty.

24.State vs. J.H. Mack, pistol toter, found guilty and got 6 months on the roads and a $50.00 fine.

25.State vs. Toney Barbose, pistol, plea of guilty and six months on the roads and $50.00 fine.

26.State vs. Jesse Hairston, plea of guilty, and six months on roads and fine of $50.00.

27.State vs. Brown Rogers, misdemeaner, found guilty, by jury.

28.State vs. Jim Fields, misdemeaner, sent to Federal Court for trial first.

29.State vs. Frank Politan, not ready for trial, preferred to work on road instead of lying in jail until next court.

30.State vs. George Hickey, murder, found guilty, and sent to the pen for 15 years.

31.State vs. Alonzo Williams, found guilty of assault and battery, and given six months and $50.00.

32.State vs. Sol Kaufman, misdemeaner, not guilty.

33.State vs. Margie Fedora, misdemeaner, not guilty

34.State vs. Wm. Spraggins, murder, plea of guilty, second degree, got 18 years. This is the man who killed Mr. Fowler at Elkhorn over the colored school-teacher.

35.State vs. C.B. Peters, plead guilty to A. & B. and was fined $25.00.

36.State vs. Lewis Hackney, misdemeaner, found not guilty.

37.State vs. Will Tate, felony, plea of guilty of unlawful wounding and got one year in the pen.

38.State vs. Glenn wagner, pistol, took 6 months and $50.00 fine

39.State vs. Curtis Franklin, felony, hung jury on the felony charge, and prisoner plead guilty to A. & B. and got $10.00 and costs

40.State vs. Sonny Taylor, petit larceny, plea of guilty and drew sixty days on the roads.
