My G2 had some problems and had been sent to Canon's service for repair. Some time later it happend that I disassembled it and noticed that the service made some steps to prevent that infamous crack problem in my camera.

It looks like they just bite out plastic border in the potential crack region with clippers or something like that.

So then I took some pictures with my web camera. On the pictures you can seen left upper corner of the camera's back. For orientation you can notice manual focus batton, strap eyelet mounting point, viewfinder adjusting lever.
