Day 5 : McFarland, WI to McHenry, IL
Today's ride is just 90 miles. I couldn't believe on how quickly the week has went. Today's ride also showed a lot of great scenery that Wisconsin had to offer. However, today, the sun came out, along with the 100 plus heat index. There were many kids outside with lemonade and koolaid stands, and I took the opportunity to rest and rehydrate on each of the stands. On Pit Stop 6, the fire department of Genoa City, WI helped cool us down.
This is the best way to cool off during a hot long day.
As we crossed into the Illinois border, there were many people there
to greet us. One of them was the Ribbon Lady. I was told that she had been
HIV positive for several years, but manage to control her CD4 counts and
Viral loads without medications. That is amazing!
This is my tent-mate Bart, from Chicago. We had just finished putting up our tent together.
