Rob Morgan
Our coach is Rob Morgan, his official title is "Director of Rowing", he has been with Reading University Boat Club since 1997. He first started rowing at St Cuthbert's Society, which is a college of Durham University. After a couple of years rowing for his college he decided to row for the University, but a skiing accident, where he broke his leg, almost brought his rowing career to an early end. Rob recovered from that injury to row in the University 1st four in the Visitors at Henley Royal Regatta. After graduating from Durham University, Rob moved to the Thames Valley where he came under the tutorage of Sid Rand. He was involved with several successful Upper Thames crews reaching the semi-final of the Thames Cup and the Wyfold Challenge at Henley Royal Regatta. Rob has held a variety of coaching positions since leaving Durham, most notably with Pangborne College and Bristol University. However, he has maintained close ties with Durham University, and has been there finishing coach for many years. Although he still has the ability to talk for hours and his analogies don't get any more obvious, he has been fundamental in the turn around in the fortunes of Reading University Boat Club in the last 3 years. The club has changed from having as little as 16 members, to now having over 150 members. The results have also improved as dramatically, especially among our women who are now among the best in the country. Everyone at Reading University Boat Club would like to thank Rob for all the time and energy he has put into our club.
I promised Rob I wouldn't put these up, but he has yet to work out how the internet works. So here are a few photos of him (just don't tell anyone).
