..A Christmas Carol..
W ell it Christmas time again and my mind is non stop thinking of all the Christmas past. Gus it sounds like a scrooge movie [ Christmas present ] and [Christmas past ] ok, I been feeling a little bit like Ebenezer Scrooge lately telling my wife we must save money , by the way that was my wife on the Enter page and above, guess I have my own personal model.

1958 seem to be a magic time an a magic Christmas, when all the stars seem to be in the right place as a eight year old its seemed to be a simpler time an it was.

Well the day before Christmas in 1958 in Oak Ridge Tennessee it began to snow, an by Christmas day there was 12 inches of snow on the ground as a child we were over joyed, im not sure if my father was.

My Grand father & Grand mother had come to Tennessee for Christmas and they brought their dog major , he was my favor , I don’t know what bread he was but he seemed to have some husky in him for his tail all ways coiled over his back

My dads younger brother [ Ken] would all ways kid he was going to paint majors nose black of course his nose was all ready black, I would ask my mother if Ken was realy going to paint his noise black, she say of course not

Ken had just recently got married so his new wife Peggy was there with him [ by the way that marriage has lasted 50 years ] seems some people get it right the first time.

Christmas day the house was full of all the family above , my grandfather had bought an new train set and my father a Erector Set there were Lincoln logs sets and a new teddy bear that later [ major ]would later chewed the noise off.[ That was the only thing that I ever saw that my father could not fix ] oh so many toys an a new sled.

My family really knew how to keep Christmas but before I forget one of the toys a powered tank [ one of those toys that I just had to have] they had searched ever wheres for it an found one that was broken [ would not run ] of course like I said my father was renowned for fixing everything and he stayed up late Christmas eve repairing it some thing that would continue for years to come, fixing everthing. I was told about the repair on the tank years later... .

Well me and my brother [ ill call him Dofus ] he will know why, we would wake up at dawn on Christmas morning, I don’t think mom an dad had only a hour sleep. The milk and cookies were gone that we had left for Santa, an our stocking were full of candy, new toys were left under the tree , I could unwrap everything in five mins. It took my father hours sense he would careful shake the package, check it weight , the size of the package and guess what was inside

Now at this time [ 1958 ] they wanted ever thing modern so that year my mother wanted a silver Christmas Tree , looking back it now it looked like [ four letter word ] but that was my mother and I loved her now for it. I think my father had the same ideas I do today for we never had a sliver tree again.

We cant say enough about Xmas dinner, the whole family was there ,My mother was a good cook ,an there was plenty of food for ever one, the only person that I believe could equal her today is my brother wife Ellen, I got say this was only a small two bed room house but that did not matter for we were all together. It was a home coming some thing my mother missed later.

There was a warmth in the house that did not come from the coal fired stove, my grandfather was proud of his three sons, each in his own way, but I felt that he believer my father could do no wrong , I still belive that today 50 years later too.

Oh I have not talked about the snow, my mother would put so many cloths on me that it all most make it impossible to move, but reminder there was a sled and Oak Ridge Tennessee has many small hills, I stay out for hours with the sled till my nose was turning blue. But no matter we had the best of fun.

This one easy to remimber for there were movies take { 8M} Dofus has them today hope he gets them put on DVD

I guess ill go to the window now an hollow down to a boy to see if that big turkey is still hanging in the market, an tell him go an buy it.

...Merry Christmas to All...
