Since August of 1998, some editions of the Canadian TVG published special test editions of TVG. These editions may have any of the following:
1. Logo: May either feature regular logo or new logo, which the "TV" is embossed and the screen is embossed and shaped more like a computer monitor. Either logo may either be regular sized or double-sized.
2. Binding: May either be stapled or perfect-bound. Perfect-bound editions have the edition name and issue date on the binding. The edition name on the binding may also be different than the one printed inside.
3. Layout: May either be regular layout or special layout, where edition name is printed on each page and a different font is used.
4. Cover Style: Cover used in one edition may be different from the one used in another edition.
5. Price: One edition may charge $1.19 or $1.29, while the other may charge $1.49.
As for how many test issues were there, the Canadian TVG is not saying, as they consider such information confidential.

Cover: regular logo. This cover is interesting because the majority of it is red including the area around the logo. So... the logo has a thin white border. (Until 1997, Canadian TVGs had a white border around its logo.) Right of the logo the blurb "New Shows <white> Your Kids Should See! <yellow> below, a pink paw print reads "Find Barney and win a trip to Florida!". Two pictures follow below (on right hand side) "Noddy" & "Woody Woodpecker" below this is the UPC-Symbol and Price. Below the logo is a white area with some cartoon characters in it. In red text above the picture it reads "Rolie Poli Olie" Binding: Stapled Layout: Regular Price: $1.49
Same as above, except that TVG logo is in yellow box with "Calgary Shaw - Southern Alberta" above logo, as per usual.
Cover: Regular logo. Totally different cover from above. This time the whole cover is white. To the right of the logo reads the following blurb that descends down near the middle with each line getting smaller and smaller..: "Parent's Guide to <in black>..New <large red>... Kids' Shows <little smaller, purple>... What Should your Kids be watching? <smaller light purple>. Below the blurb is the same Barney paw print from the T-P issue; below this is where the pictures were in T-P. The pictures suddenly become text adding descriptions: Rolie Polie Olie <red> - Magical 3-D Animation <small black>; Woody Woodpecker <red> - New Tricks for an old Bird (small black>; Noddy <red> - Restoring a Storybook Classic <black small>. Below all this junk is: Plus <black capitals>: Hercules <red> & Incredible story studio <red>. Below the logo is the same picture as T-P and same approx.. size.
