Written by Cindi (Clarke) Coursey Post - Reunion Details! It was a fabulous weekend! Everyone who was able to be at one of the many events that went on over the weekend had a great time and we're already talking about a cruise for our 25th reunion! The casual "Let's Get Re-Acquainted" evening started at 6 p.m. on Friday, poolside at the Edgewater Beach Resort. While yours truly was not able to make that evening, I was told that it was a lot of fun. Kathi (Schmidt) Luleff was a "special guest performer" and Melissa (Hoole) Dahm and Ruth (Day) Berry walked around the crowd and handed them some scarves Kathi brought with her. After the performance, Ruth announced for anyone holding a scarf to come to the front and claim their prize. When they were all standing there, she then announced that the "prize" was a belly dancing lesson from our very own fellow graduate Kathi (Schmidt) Luleff! Family events went on Saturday during the day. David Anderson coordinated a dive off the local beaches. Kim (Wildman) Gordon, and David and his wife went and had a good time. They dove on the Black Bart and a sunken Navy Hovercraft.. There was a also picnic at the St. Andrews State Park that was a lot of fun for everyone. Janice (Soto) Cobb brought a volleyball net, the sun was out, water nice, and it was a great day for everyone's families to meet. The more formal dinner was Saturday evening at the Edgewater. There was a DJ and dance floor (I believe it was Shirley (Driver) Roman leading the congo line!). We all went back in time as the disco ball glittered and Donna Summer, KC and the Sunshine Band, and lots of oldies but goodies blasted on the sound system. Neil Humphrey gave a wonderful speech that reminded everyone of how important life and friendships are. There was a slide show of new and old pictures from the 10th reunion and from Thursday and Friday night gatherings. Neil and his wife won the "Lots of Long Cold Winters" award for having eight (yes, 8!) children. Wanda (Stowers) Windham won the "Better Late than Never" award for having the newest child - Jacob born in April 2000. Bettye Joe (Myers) Kersey won the "These Kids are Making Me Old Before My Time" award for having six grandchildren - although she was very adamant about making sure we all knew that she married into them! {It was also pointed out that Kelly (Ballentine) Domson was a great-grandmother by marriage!} The "A Rolling Ram Never Gathers Any Moss" award was given to Kenny Copen for having lived in 10 different states and countries in the last 20 years. "Any Excuse for a Florida Vacation" award went to Tamara (Harrison) Castles who traveled from Australia for the reunion - over 9,000 miles! Showing that "Patience is a Virtue" Laura O'Donoghy) Black received an award for having the longest marriage - 20 years on June 28th! Proving that you "Can Teach an Old Graduate New Tricks" Regina Henderson won the award for having the most degrees - AA, AS, BA, and a JD! All in all, it was a wonderful evening for all who were able to attend! There are still a few of the reunion wine glasses available if you weren't able to get one Saturday night. Please send me (cindic@mail.com) an email if you would like to pick one up. The group photo taken Saturday night will be available in 5x7 ($5) and 8x10 ($10) sizes. If you would like to purchase one, please send a check made out to Ruth Berry at Post Office Box 15111, Panama City, FL 32406. Be sure to include your mailing address and the sizes you want if ordering more than one. The address book which was made available at the dinner is also available by mail for $6 if you would like to get one. Please send a check made out to RHS 1980 to Ruth at the above address and she or Leslie (Johns) Sikes will get one to you as soon as possible. Marty Lehtio headed up a golf outing on Sunday morning, and here is his "report": Golf Outing Info: The low round went to Cecil Andrews of Austin, TX. with an "82," he's a definite sandbagger! The course was great and everyone had a really nice time. Several of us got to shake hands with Bobby Bowden (the enemy) while checking in ... gotta have respect I guess. Here's who participated: Cecil & Donna Andrews, Ricky Bozeman, Mike Monahan, Glen Frye, Jim Wilson, Todd Walker, Marty Lehtio, EJ Lehtio. I think I missed someone ... sorry but I lost my sign in sheet. I know there are many more golfers in our class, hopefully we'll have a better turn out next time! Reunion t-shirts/golf shirts can still be ordered and if you would like one, they need to be pre-paid no later than August 31. Make check out to Ruth Berry and send payment AND order form (below) to Post Office Box 15111; Panama City, FL, 32406. If you would like to have your shirt mailed to you, please add $4 for envelope and postage per shirt. If you are local to the area, contact Ruth to arrange for pick-up when they are available. The shirts are "Best" quality, Fruit of the Loom, 50/50. T-shirt cost will be $8 per shirt, and golf shirts will be $16. The logo is a really nice Ram's head with "1980" curved slightly above the logo, and "2000" curved slightly beneath. It is fairly small, just 2-3 inches, and will appear in the upper left portion of the shirt. Please be sure to mark on the order form your choice for type, color and size! Ruth still has about 6 shirts that were ordered but not paid for or picked up, so please contact her if you forgot to get yours Saturday night. We would like to keep the connections going that we have made, and so hopefully this will be an annual e-newsletter updating everyone with the latest and greatest in our lives. If there is something you would like to have included in the next newsletter (anticipated printing in December) please send me an email at cindic@mail.com. Or join the OneList if you are not already a member or if you have dropped for whatever reasons. 25th Reunion CruisePlans are already in the works for a 25th reunion cruise. Length, time of year, and destination are still all in the idea stages, but your input is important. Please be sure to stay a member of the OneList so that you can take part in polls to see what the majority of the class would like to do for our "Silver" Anniversary! Missing ClassmatesWe are still missing some classmates. If you know the whereabouts of any of these people - or their families or friends who may be able to put us in touch with them, please let myself (cindic@mail.com) or Todd Bottorf (todd.bottorf@js.pentagon.mil) know.
