Hockey Stick -- Don't get CHECKED!

Dear Fin-Atics:

Our first overnight road trip turned out to be a huge success. We traveled to Gulf Port/Biloxi, Mississippi to watch the Tiger Sharks take on the Mississippi Sea Wolves.

There was bus transportation provided, games, tickets and a special hotel package from Grand Casino Gulf Port. A total of 63 fans signed up to ride the bus and we sold 125 game tickets which made a big presence at the Mississippi arena.

This trip would not have been as successful without the help and support of the sponsors. The Mill and Gulf 104 put their expertise to work in getting this trip on the road. Gulf 104 provided on-air advertisements for the trip and arranged for me to sit in on the morning cc show with TC and Dave during a live-remote from The Mill; their staff helped with the details that had to be worked out to make the trip a success. They also provided us with prizes to give away on the buses.

The Mill provided each person traveling on the bus with a breakfast buffet the morning of the trip, a box lunch and most importantly provided the beer. Plus, the experience that Tim Hendrix has in planning these events was invaluable. I would like to express my appreciation for all the time and effort given by those individuals involved.

With the success we had in the road trip, I am looking forward to next year when we can hopefully plan a trip with double the number of fans to support the Tiger Sharks.

Road Trip Committee

The Mill The moment of discovery. The people on the nonalcholic bus open the cooler to find...bear. A cooler full of it. A really BIG cooler full of it!

After an extended bout of teasing, someone joked that they were going to throw Michelle Nunnery off her bus. The only way she'd get to Mississippi was on a moped that was strapped to a trailer of a passing truck. And the name "The Moped Chick" was born. But what we really want to know is: What's the deal with the ketsup? Moped Chick Rides Again

Jaws The road trip had the added bonus of reminding everyone of those people who almost always missed the bus on those grade-school field trips. Perparing to leave a rest stop on the way over, the officers on each bus asked, "Is everyone's seat partner on the bus? Yes? Ok, we can leave." It wasn't until the bus started to pull away that Jay Weinheld noticed his wife, Fran, wasn't on the bus and said something. Makes you wonder, doesn't it Fran?

Fin-Atics left their mark on the Golf Port beach. Jomar Fraser carved "Fin-Atics RULE" and a giant tiger shark fin in the beach sand. Big Enough to be seen from the 10th floor of the hotel, there was no doubt that the Mississippi fans knew we were there. Beads!

Grand Casino All Star Show Madonna? George Harris? A hundred or more Fin-Atics got to witness the intriguing byplay between these two in the dimly lit lounge at the Casino. What's the scoop here George?

While the game and arena were interesting, the fans left something to be desired as Kim Sproul found out when she was hit (punched) in the back by a passing 10-11 year old. What do you say or do to a bad natured 10 year-old in the opposing team's arena? NASCAR on Ice?

Sharks vs. Wolves On the return trip, the employees of one Hardee's almost had the largest takeout order ever placed through their drive-thru. In a rush to get back to Tallahassee, Charlie the bus driver decided at the last minute NOT to take the full-size tour bus through the drive thru. Not because he couldn't however. He had just finished telling a story about another group that had to do that because the dining room was closed.
