Our Goals:

Our short term goals are to develop a network of partners with the aim of coordinating efforts relating to the promotion and education of safety as it relates to children and youth in the home, community and playground. We also want to begin working with children and youth through several initiatives and programs.

Our long term goals are to develop a sustainable program of safety
awareness with children and youth. We want to instill a degree of
recognition and understanding of safety issues with the aim of taking that awareness into the workplace. We feel that to reduce workplace accidents in the long term, we need to start the education process before people go into the workplace.

Our Roots:

First launched on 23 April 1996, the Safe Communities Foundation is a partnership between the private and public sectors that is dedicated to making Canada the safest country in the world in which to live, learn, work and play. The Foundations believes that Safe Communities are a basic human right.

As part of the Safe Communities Foundation, Safe Communities of Ottawa has worked hard to develop those partnerships. We strongly believe that both the private and public sectors, along with the community as a whole, play an integral roll in working together to make our Communities safe.

Between our Executive Board, Committee, and partnerships, Safe Communities of Ottawa has brought together an extensive group of individuals and agencies that have a tremendous amount of experience in the health and safety area; in the home, community, playground and the workplace.
