THE event of my artistic year:
The Broadway Musical Snoopy at the
Phipps Center for the Arts, Hudson WI
Opening night: Thursday November 4, 1999 at 8 pm
Performance schedule: Nov. 4-6, 11-13, 18-20, 26, 27 at 8 pm; Nov. 7, 14, 21, 28 at 2 pm

I am the music director & pianist for this wonderful musical based on the peanuts comic-strip .
Charlie Brown's friends and his faithful furry companion will entertain you
through effervescent stories, songs & dances.

The roles are performed by adults but the show will delight kids and grown-ups alike.

Update (November 5, 1999):
Great opening night! People really enjoyed themselves.
Read the wonderful newspaper review (plus an audio sample!)
Actors, us musicians, and audience alike. Should be a great run!
(November 29) We did have a great run. Attendance could have been better.
But absolutely everybody loved it!

Voices of Vienna Scholarship Concert at the
inaugural
Rheinfest on the Mississippi
Downtown St. Paul MN, Landmark Center
Sunday September 19, 1999 at 2:30pm

The Rheinfest is a celebration of German culture and heritage.

Update (September 20, 1999):
Nice auditorium. We did our best. Insiders enjoyed our concert. But being part
of a big festival with constant ear-piercing Uhm-pa-pa music is questionable...

Annual Voices of Vienna concert at
Germanic American Institute , St. Paul MN ( map! )
Friday September 10, 1999 at 7:30pm

It'll be the debut of our new tenor, Jeremy Cady.

Update (September 11, 1999):
Jeremy did great. I also played my role as the corny comedian well.
Years ago these people were the first ones who laughed at my jokes. So I keep going...

10th annual Slice of Shoreview outdoor festival and parade
Shoreview MN, Island Lake Park ( map! )
Saturday July 31, 1999 (parade - 11:00am, concert - 12:30pm)

I'll be performing with The Voices of Vienna and we'll add Broadway tunes
and popular songs to our operettas and arias.

Update (July 31, 1999):
The concert was fun. We also participated in the parade, singing for the TV crew.
It was not as hot as the days before, but the audience was still sweating.
We handled the wind and the microphones well, those two outdoor perils!

Choral Fantasies with SW Orchestra at Holy Redeemer Church
Marshall MN, Sunday April 25, 1999 4:00pm

I'm singing all the bass-solo parts.
The core piece is the Mass in A-Flat Major by Franz Schubert.

Update (April 27, 1999):
It was wonderful to sing in Church again! We had about 400 people
and it sounded great! For the very first time I also got to sing
parts of the ninth symphony (Beethoven). See below.

An Elegant Evening at Linwood A+ School
1023 Osceola Ave., St. Paul MN 55105
Wednesday April 14, 1999 6:30pm

This is a fund raiser for the new playground!
It's a wonderful talent showcase with a variety of performers.

Update (April 15, 1999):
The fundraiser was a big success! Now we can build the playground!
I sang 'I got plenty of nuttin' (Gershwin) and played a piano duet version
of 'Eine kleine Nachtmusik' (Mozart) with Jim Stevens.

March 1999: we just chose the 1999 scholarship winner of The Voices of Vienna. I, Florian Keller, am their music director and we will have our own home page soon. This $2500 scholarship honors a graduate student of the University of Minnesota, voice department. The recipient will travel to Salzburg, Austria (my home town) this summer and study with a celebrity at the international summer academy. We will also have several concerts in the Twin Cities area featuring the winner later this year. You will hear about it on this page!
The scholarship winner is a 24 year old soprano and her name is Sangeetha Rayapati. She is a wonderfully talented person (of course).
