Glastonbury Festival

Glastonbury is very much misunderstood by those who have not been. Many mistake it for your normal festival where the main reason to go is the bands that play. The first time I went all I did was organise my time there around the artists I wanted to see.

However the second time I went I realised how much more to Glastonbury there was. That time I chilled out in the Green Fields, watched people being healed and saw the sunrise from the stone circle whilst listening to drummers. The following year I spent most of my time in the circus area watching theatre acts and stand up comedians. I spent the whole weekend laughing! Another year we discovered Lost Vagueness and lived it up at the casino in our smart gear. We even had a meal in the silver service restaurant! Each year has been completely different.

We've also managed to get a camp opposite the main stage for the past 4 festivals, which has been great for chilling out sitting in camp whilst hearing all the major bands. (Of course they still play a big part!) People are friendly at Glastonbury, there's so much to experience, and most often the little things you stumble upon are better than the Saturday night headliners. I've seen creatures walking on four legged stilts, fire dancing, impromptu jazz bands, sculptures, craft displays, random comedy acts, singing around a piano in the middle of the footpath for 3 hours, plus sitting at the feet of a giant LOVE to a glowing orange sunrise with a rainbow spanning the sky. Amazing. And out of all I've seen, my favourite so far has been the group "Weapons of Sound". They play pieces of scrap, like shopping trolleys and plastic tubes. The tunes they play have such a good beat you can't help but dance. It truly is a magical place and I pine for it after each visit. Two years until the next one seems an age away!

Anyway enough of the rambling, take a look at a few of my favourite pics from past visits. I'll try to get as many up as soon as I can. (The early festivals were pre digital camera!)
