Pictures from: N America Pt2
The Journey Home
My time in Toronto was pleasant. It was great to see Damien again and also
to relax out of a hostel dorm room. By the time it came for me to catch
the night bus back to New York I was ready to get home. Customs was fine
for me (amazingly!) but one guy was held for an hour and a half before being
allowed to pass.
New York looked amazing as we drove through. It had become cloudy, which
meant that the larger skyscrapers disappeared up into the clouds. I had
a full day before my night flight back to the UK which was spent wondering
around the shops and making last minute notes on the Americans (admittedly
not my favourite set of people). Boarding the plane brought a smile to my
face, hearing the crew in their British accents saying, Good evening.
Welcome aboard was fantastic! Everyone sounded so posh!!
So there I was back in Blighty. I popped round to see friends in London and marvelled at the place. English number plates, double decker buses, green men to walk. Plus old stone houses and dirty streets (I guess it was dirtier as everythings so much older). The weather was fantastic too.
What a
good welcome home! Seeing friends and family in Bristol was lovely. Big hugs
and smiles. Not much had changed at home, plus they had little to ask me as
Id kept everyone up to date with my travels so well. I slipped back
into UK life pretty quickly, however my aim to keep on travelling even
if home was still resolute. I aimed to keep up visitng places of interest,
take up classes and keep on learning. Walks in the country, museum visits
and seeing shows. Many people said Id soon loose the urge, I plan to
prove them all wrong. And now? Well Im looking for work. Sorting my
life out. And enjoying every moment with the people that mean the most to
me. (aw doesn't it make you sick! hehe) Future plans? Glastonbury and South
Africa aside (June and Sept respectively) I will probably work in Bristol
for a few years before returning to New Zealand with a working holiday visa.
But who knows what will happen before then! Till next time. x
