Two
down in five minutes wasn't the best start against Premier
North team Colliers Wood. However the boys sorted themselves
and with Sacha ,Musa and James gaining control of midfield
we found ourselves 3-2 up at half-time through goals by Peter,
Jacob and Jack. A much better second half display with Danny
and Rueben looking more assured in the middle of the defence,
backed up by some great tackling by Ben and Sam at full back
set up a good second half against two evenly matched teams.
With James keeping goal confidently it took a penalty in the
last five minutes for the opposition to equalise. Up front
it was good to see debutant Adam settling into the team. |

On
a very hot Sunday afternoon the boys put in a good performance
again against Premiership opposition. An evenly fought first
half which kept James busy in goal ended 2-2 at half time.
Our goals coming from a Reuben header and Musa with a good
run and shot. The second half started in much the same way
Musa putting us ahead before K's equalised. Then a splendid
curled free kick from Sacha put us back in front. Working
hard in midfield Jack, Jacob and Peter set up Musa to tuck
one away for our fifth and his third of the afternoon. With
Ben, Sam and James supporting down the flanks it wasn't long
until we increased our lead through Sacha. Some good approach
play by Danny set up Adam for his first goal of the season
to make it 7-4 and end our run of pre season friendlies undefeated. |

A superb
start to the new league campaign in which everybody played
a part. In particular the defence was outstanding today
with Danny, Reuben, Ben, Sam and then James holding the
line expertly and blocking any attack Roehampton set up.
We played some great attacking football from the word go
and found ourselves 4-0 up in ten minutes with three goals
from Musa and one from Jacob. The best being a great move
involving Jack and Adam setting up Musa to drive powerfully
into the net. Danny nudged one home and Musa with two more
saw us 7-0 up at half time. Mikhail slotted back into his
role on the wings and was unlucky not to score himself but
was involved in setting up Musa for his sixth. Jacob coming
on as sub made it 9 with his first touch. Another flowing
counter attack ended with a penalty being awarded, which
Sacha put away comfortably. Sacha then made it 11 with a
diving header before Peter showed good awareness to follow
up a shot and slide it under their keeper to make it 12-0.
A quiet game for James in goal today but he to played a
part coming off his line confidently on the odd occasion
Roehampton broke through. Well done boys I couldn't have
asked for more!

A
comfortable but sleepy performance today with us not really
getting out of first gear! Highlights today included Peters
hat-trick, Sam's goal line clearance and Jacob's overhead
strike. We started slowly against a busy Dorking side and
didn't break through until Adam came on as a sub to blast
us 1 up. Peter followed this with a good run to pick up Bens
through ball and hit a low shot into the corner of the goal
to make it 2-0 at half-time. A goal from Peter immediately
from the restart made it 3-0 and with Rueben and Danny outstanding
in the centre of defence James was hardly bothered in goal.
Dorking pulled one back with a scrambled effort before Jacob
made it 4 followed by Musa breaking through to make it 5.
Jacob then scored with a spectacular overhead strike to make
it 6. With Mikhail setting up some good opportunities down
the right wing we should have scored a few more. Our seventh
was the best made goal of the day with Jack picking up a ball
out of defence to lay a perfectly waited through ball for
Peter to run on to and secure is third goal. Dorking got a
second from a penalty, which James so nearly got to, before
Sacha wrapped things up with a shot from the edge of the area
to make it 8. A victory that sets us up for a local derby
in the 2nd Round of the Surrey Cup against Hook and Southborough. |

A
cracking match against two evenly matched teams. New boys
Hayes Youth certainly gave us plenty to think about as we
found ourselves two down in ten minutes. The boys dug in brilliantly
and were lifted when Musa scored a trademark goal, bursting
powerfully through the Hayes defence to slot the ball home.
Sacha, Reuben and Jack manage to get the upper hand in midfield
and after some good approach play Adam popped up in the Hayes
area to tuck home an equaliser from close range. From the
restart Hayes caught us napping and quickly regained the lead.
Then back we came with Jacob nipping in to finish off a good
passing move to make things all square. Danny again was outstanding
in central defence alongside Sam who made some telling tackles
as Hayes charged towards us. With Ben linking up well on the
left with Adam we created a number of chances. The last ten
minutes was all Samba, Sacha went close with a free kick and
some superb corners, Musa burst through only to be denied
by the Hayes keeper and Mikhail, who lead the line brilliantly
today, was unlucky not to nick the winner after being put
through by Jack. With James coming on for the injured Ben
the defence stayed secure until horror upon horrors Hayes
were awarded a penalty! James kept his nerve and with a fantastic
dive pushed the ball away and ensured we came away with a
well-earned point. |

A
tougher game than we expected against a dogged Hampton Rangers
team. After an even start Hampton took the lead before Peter
burst through to equalise. Despite some good work in midfield
by Sacha and Jacob we couldn't break down the Hampton defence
whose keeper was in particularly good form. James came to
our rescue again with another fine penalty save and we went
into the break at 1-1. Reshuffling the team at half-time Danny
with a long-range shot put us 2-1 up. We continued to press
forward with Ben and James from fullback setting up some good
attacks but with no luck. Then Hampton equalised with a hotly
disputed goal, which seemed to raise the tempo of our game.
Rueben and Sam snuffed out any threat from the Hampton forwards
and after a good passing move Musa made it 3-1. Then up popped
Jack to thunder in number 4 from a volley at the far post.
Great character from the team today to dig in and carve out
a result. |

Powerful
team performances from the boys today with everybody contributing
to a fine win in a match where we scored some very good goals.
None better than Peter's two first half strikes. Both coming
from inch perfect passes from Sacha, which saw Peter using
his strength and pace to strike the ball powerfully into the
net. Danny scored with a long-range shot that the keeper misjudged
and Musa popped up to make it 4-0 at half time. James had
little to do in goal but did pull off two fine saves when
Sunbury broke through. Jack playing at right back had is best
game of the season so far, joining the attack whenever possible
and covering well. While at left back Ben displayed his usual
calm assuredness in dealing with any Sunbury attack. Danny
and Sam were again outstanding in the centre of the defence
covering well and setting up several attacks. The second half
saw some great wing play by both Mikhail and Jacob with James
busy in central midfield. Musa made it five with a spectacular
lob before Jacob stabbed home the sixth from close range.
Then the goal of the game with Danny dribbling out of defence
past several Sunbury players and with a great pass sent Musa
through. After ghosting past two defenders Musa calmly struck
it into the back of the net and found himself with yet another
hat trick! We then became a little over generous allowing
Sunbury to score a couple of goals before Mikhail set off
on a powerful run which ended with him being brought down
in the Sunbury area. Sacha put away the resulting penalty
to round off a very good display today. |

Whoops!
The wheels came off the bus a bit today. In truth we didn't
play too badly against a very tenacious Hook & Southborough
team. As they say, local derby's are always passionate affairs
and this one was no different. With two evenly matched teams
battling for the game. We set up a number of chances in the
first half with both Musa and Jacob coming close before Peter
burst through only to see his shot hit the bar. Rueben and
James worked hard in midfield but couldn't get the breakthrough
we needed. James K pulled off a couple of much needed saves
and came off his line smartly to shut down another couple
of threats. The defensive line of Jack, Ben, Danny and Sam
were busy but stood firm. With no goals in the first half
we changed our formation a little and started much better.
Sacha put Mikhail through and only a good save from the keeper
stopped us scoring. Then in quick succession an ex Samba player
(who shall rename nameless) pulled off two fantastic goal
line clearances to deny us again. While at the other end a
slip in midfield let a Hook striker through to put the ball
past James for the only goal of the game. With five minutes
to go we through everything at the Hook goal but with no luck.
It just wasn't our day to day! |

very under par performance today. A game we lost in the first
half through defensive mistakes, lack of competitiveness in
midfield and not taking our chances up front. After Weston
Green had taken a 2-goal lead through their speedy forwards
we pulled 1 back through Reuben only to let in 2 more sloppy
goals before the break. A much more positive second half performance
saw Danny make it 4-2 from a corner but yet again more mistakes
let Weston Green in to make it 5. On the more positive side
James pulled off some fine saves to keep the score down. Mikhail
switching to right back defended superbly and Peter, dropping
into midfield, put in a tremendous effort. |

game, which you needed an abacus to keep track of the goals

of our opening day fixture and their speedy forwards certainly
made us pay for our defensive errors. Highlight of the day
was Sam scoring his first goals for Samba and Musa gaining
yet another hatrick. Good to see Mikhail getting on the score
sheet for the first time this season. All in all although
we were in second gear for most of the match, the score at
4-4 at one point, the boys put in a competent second half
performance to ensure a win. |

A
very pleasing display against a team who beat us 7-3 last
year. Changing things around a little to give the boys the
opportunity to play in different positions the defence were
magnificent in the first half. James came off his line superbly
to sweep up any long ball attacks while Sam and Reuben were
as solid as a rock in the centre of defence. At fullback James
M and Jack helped counter Moseley's attacks down the wings.
We opened the scoring through Peter following up a through
pass and coolly slotting the ball under the advancing keeper.
Some good tackling and challenging by Mikhail saw Musa sent
free to make it 2-0 with a good run and shot. Then with a
great long throw from debutant Karl, Sacha played in a great
ball for Musa to make it 3-0 at half-time. Molelsey then grabbed
one back but with Ben and Jacob having outstanding games in
midfield we steadied ourselves and went further ahead when
Jacob scored a deserved fourth goal following up a great chip
from Musa that hit the bar. Then up popped Sam at the far
post to make it number five for us. Generous to the last we
let Molesey score a second before James pulled off a couple
of great saves towards the end of the game. Peter playing
at centre half for the last ten minutes also made some telling
tackles. But it was Jacobs tireless running and challenging
in midfield that made him the star of the show today. One
final mention goes to Musa, his two goals toady made him the
first player to score 50 goals for the club. |

A
lovely sunny afternoon, a lovely flat pitch = some lovely
passing football by the Samba boys today. Mind you it didn't
start too well when out of the Sun the ball landed in the
back of our net to make it 1-0 to Imber Court! For a while
it looked as if the boys had forgotten Musa wasn't around
today as so many balls went astray in midfield! Then Jacob
took the initiative and slid home a pass to make it 1-1. This
was soon followed by his second to make us 2-1 at half-time.
Then in a devastating start to the second half we stole the
game away from Imber Court. The midfield of Sacha and Jacob
started to roll into cruise control and played in a great
ball for Peter to swoop through the Imber Court defence and
make it 3. Then Danny with a devastating run made it 4. Peter
with a screamer from just inside the penalty area made it
5 and then quickly made it a hatrick for the afternoon by
finishing off a great move down the left involving James,
Ben, Sacha and Jacob. Sam then rose like a salmon to to head
in number 7 and put a smile on his face! Jack gave another
good display at full back playing some great balls through
to Mikhail who was unlucky himself not to get on the score
sheet. Reuben gave another superb impression of Rio in the
centre of the defence. While on the other flank Karl made
some telling tackles and supported the attacks with some well
chosen overlapping runs. And we shouldn't forget our last
line of defence James who pulled off a spectacular save by
tipping a low shot around the left hand post when it looked
a certain goal. Well done boys! |

Sometimes
people ask me, what's it like managing the Under 14's? Well
today's match really sums it up! At times some sublime football
illustrated by James, Ben and Jacob playing some lovely passing
football to set up Peter for our opening goal. Then at times
a total lack of concentration, which opens the door for our
opponents. That's football under 14 Samba style! Our first
half performance saw us in total control. Danny and Sam in
the centre of the defence played their most composed game
so far. With both Jack and Karl supporting the attacks well
from full back it wasn't long before Jacob popped up to make
it 2-0. Then some great moves involving the whole team saw
Musa grab two goals to make it 4-0 at the break. A relaxing
half time turned out to be too laid back as Junior Bees took
the game to us. All of a sudden it was 4-4! Thank heavens
James was in good form today because if it wasn't for two
absolutely outstanding saves we could have found ourselves
right up the creek without a paddle! Looking a little shell-shocked
we blew off the dust and thanks to some good work down the
right wing by Mikhail found ourselves in the lucky position
of earning a penalty, which Sacha coolly slotted home. Then
Musa scored his third and at 6-4 we assumed it was all over.
But oh no, Junior Bees weren't finished yet. Back they came
to make it 6-5! Was the management worried? Of course not!
But boys, do us a favour lets stay awake for the whole game!!!!!

tough game against a dogged Manorcroft team. A good first
half saw us play some great football with Sacha and Musa pulling
the strings in midfield, some great wing play by Mikhail and
Jack, and an outstanding defensive display by the back four.
Only one thing was wrong
we couldn't score. Peter came
close a couple of times, Danny took off on a couple of trademark
surges out of defence and both Ben and Karl set up chances
from fullback but the ball wouldn't go in the Manorcroft net!
An acute tactical observation (by everybody's favourite linesman)
lead to a change of position at the start of the second half
and bingo we got the goal! Peter and Musa combined well and
as the ball rebounded from the Manorcroft keeper Jack was
there to stab it into the back of the net and let us breathe
a little easier. With debutant Tai and Reuben working hard
in midfield we kept control of the things until Manorcroft
stepped up a gear and took the game to us in the last ten
minutes. James who had been an observer for most of the match
was called into action and as usual kept us on course with
some great saves. Along with Sam who marshalled the defence
superbly and made sure we weathered the storm. A second semi-final
in two years for the boys and a nice present for Jacob and
James recovering from their recent stay in hospital. |

again presented us with a challenge today. Despite having
most of the play in the first half their well-organised defence
made things very difficult for us. With Danny blasting a shot
against the bar and Sacha missing a penalty it looked like
it wasn't going to be our day as we went in 0-0 at half-time.
Then a whirlwind start to the second half saw us start to
play football. With Jacob and Musa gaining control in midfield
it wasn't long before Mikhail, who was outstanding all game,
sent in an inch perfect cross for Sacha to head home. This
was soon followed by an absolutely stunning strike from Musa
just inside the area to make it 2. We then turned up a gear
or two. Adam and Jack made some telling runs down the flanks
to set up Peter and Taiwo who were unlucky not to score before
Musa popped up to make it 3-0. However biggest shout of the
day must go to the defence. Mikhail, then Karl, Ben, Rueben
and Sam were absolutely outstanding today and controlled the
defensive line superbly choosing the exact time to move up
and drop deep to cover - it was a pleasure to watch! And of
course we mustn't forget James who had a quieter game than
usual in gaol but put in a pretty good example of a sweeper
when called upon. |
