SaltFree Divers - Freediving courses, meets and competitions in the UK

Who we are - the Rogues Gallery

Sam Kirby

Sam Kirby set up the show and runs SaltFree. She is an AIDA Instructor Trainer, PADI Course Director, Facebook junkie and marketeer by trade. Sam has been involved with the UK Freedive Team for several years, as diver, coach and Captain. Sam dives with a monofin and her favourite discipline is Constant Weight. Sam plays the flute (well), saxophone (badly) and lives with her partner Dave, in Cornwall. Sam also has her own site but it's kinda old.

laura storm harris

Laura Storm Harris runs the scuba side of things, the "Angels of the Deep". A trimix diver, Laura's safety diving projects have included the Sony Freediver Open Classic event (Cyprus 2003 and 2004) as well as support diving year round in the UK. When she isn't under water, Laura runs her own sports injury / remedial therapy clinic. Laura lives for marmite, vodka, rock and metal (the hardcore music variety) and is the team's mover and shaker. Laura is married to Mark and lives in Surrey. Find out more about Laura and The Angels by visiting www.angelsofthedeep.org.

Mark Harris
Mark Harris is one of the kings of the lake, getting nearer the bottom every time. He's been diving on the UK team for several years now, runs the Richmond Club and makes it SaltFree whenever his work as an IT guru allows him. Mark is an AIDA Instructor and International Judge and competes regularly both nationally and internationally. Mark is a member of that rare species of deeply successful blue suited bi-finners. Mark lives in Surrey and is the current UK men's Freediving Champion. Read Mark's freediving blog.
liv philip freediving instructor
Liv Philip is an AIDA Freedive Instructor and a PADI IDC Staff Instructor. She has taught diving all over the world including working as a Whale Shark Guide off Australia. Liv also teaches at the freedive sessions at the Old Deer Park in Richmond and can also be found from time to time in the Blue Hole, Dahab.
Liv holds several British Freedive Records across a range of disciplines and competes on the UK Team. Liv lives in South London and is the current UK women's freediving champion. Visit Liv's website.
Tim Money
Tim Money is a computer boffin who'd much rather be outdoors. He's made giant leaps in his own freediving in the last few years and is now an AIDA Instructor as well as a member of the UK Team. Tim lives in London where he trains with No Tanx and has been a member of SaltFree for a couple of years now. Patient, funny and a damn good freediver, we're very happy to have him on board as an instructor. His work keeps sending him to Oz, we're hoping it's not permanent!
Dave King
Dave King aka Deepest Dave has been diving with SaltFree since the start. Dave is an AIDA Instructor and currently holds the UK Men's Constant Weight and Dynamic with Fins records. Somehow Dave manages to stay super fit despite plenty of full Englishes not to mention a beer or two. We all hate him (not really). Dave lives in Brighton.
mandy buckley freediver
Mandy Buckley won the SaltFree Mermaid Challenge, a nationwide competition to discover new female freediving talent. She got a bit overexcited about the whole thing, has had a fantastic mermaid tattooed down her back and is currently growing a tail. A hard-core regular, Mandy's getting better every meet but is also always ready to lend a hand to the newbies. Mandy lives in Cheshire. She also dives at Capernwray and in North Wales. Mandy loves her monofin, and her dogs.
Dave Griffiths
Dave Griffiths aka Mr Crocs is Sam's other half and the brains and brawn behind most of the technology at SaltFree. When he's not building booms, hauling ropes or generally fixing stuff, he's an AIDA Judge, PADI Instructor Examiner and one of the highest qualified tech divers in the land. Sam wants him on the pontoon managing stuff, Laura wants him in the water Angelling. Unfortunately PADI can pay him so usually, he's at work! Dave is also a Facebook addict, but he'll only be your friend if you send him REALLY funny video clips!
