Buffy season five to start on bbc2 in august

Whilst we're sure you are enjoying revisiting the early days of Buffy with the season one repeats, brand new episodes are expected on the BBC later this summer. Contrary to earlier rumours of a September start, It now appears that season five will debut on BBC 2 this August with Buffy vs. Dracula. As with all things scheduling-related, sports coverage may delay things so don’t hold us to it! As for Angel, it is still not know if and when Channel Four will screen the second season of the spin-off show, although we are again keeping a close eye on developments.

Buffy hits 100 in style

Buffy celebrated its 100th episode in America last Tuesday with the spectacular conclusion to season five. We won't spoil the incredible ending here, although satellite channel SKY One, the Evening Standard newspaper and several teletext services enraged fans by revealing what happens ahead of UK screening of the episode, entitled The Gift. "I have been avoiding spoilers for weeks, leaving the room when trailers came on - all for nothing," one upset fan commented on the Buffy newsgroup. Buffy will apparently return in August in America (although Joss Whedon suspects this is more likely to be October), in a double-length season-opener on the UPN network. Spin-off Angel will remain on the WB. Joss Whedon has confirmed that Tony Head's Giles will only be a recurring character. "Giles will be recurring next year instead of a regular because [Anthony Stewart Head is] going to live in England. We're working on a BBC [spin-off] show for [that character]," Joss told TV Guide Online. Amber Benson's Tara stil doesn't make it into the opening credits, however. "She will, like this year, be in most of the shows," Whedon confirmed.
