This Hindu shrine on Ratchadamri Rd, better known as the Erawan shrine, has an interesting history and is revered by the Thai people. The shrine was erected when the building of the first Erawan Hotel (now the Grand Hyatt Erawan Hotel) struck misfortune. Once the shrine was completed the hotel construction also went smoothly. Naturally the shrine is considered successfull and lucky. The Erawan shrine has at it centre the deity Braahma, the Hindu god of creation. Today locals flood to the shrine to wish for good luck. If the wish is granted the lucky ones return to the shrine and have the ever present musicians play tunes in thanks.
