Situated in a beautiful village called Kadungallor, in “Aluva” an industrial town in Kerala, Sariga Sangeetha Academy is a Research-cum Training Institute for music in general and carnatic music in particular. The founder director of the Academy, Hariharan Nair, is a renowned musician, music teacher, musicologist, researcher and author.

Originally started as Sarig Sangeethalaya it was upgraded into Sariga Sangeetha Academy on 16th March 1998. Padmabhushan Dr. KJ Yesudas inaugurated the Academy. Affiliated to the Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalayamandal Mumbai, Sariga is now authorized to conduct examinations for 13 UGC approved courses including Ph.D in music.

In appreciation of the high standards of music education maintained by Sariga, it has been recognized by the Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Academy. It is also a recognized charitable institution.

Over 100 students are presently receiving education in carnatic music at Sariga. In addition to music, yoga, meditation, and music therapy are also taught.

Sariga Sangeetha Academy conducts several music programmes every year. During the nine days of Navaratri, concerts by eminent musicians from all over the country are arranged for the benefit of the students. Among the celebrated musicians who have performed at Sariga are Padmavibhushan Dr. M. Balamuralikrishna, Padmabhushan Dr. K.J. Yesudas, Padmashree U. Srinivas, Padmashree Kunnakkudi Vaidyanathan, to name a few.
