Savannah cats

The Serval makes its home on the African savannahs and is the next size up to the junglecat (felis chaus) in the wild cat family. Both are extremely similar in body structure and overall appearance This large eared, spotted wild cat is the base for the creation of the Savannah breed. The Savannah cat was named after the first documented cross,a (serval x siamese hybrid) by a New Jersey women which was named” Savannah”. A few dedicated breeders are taking it one step further by continuing the crosses. The Savannah is a wonderful alternative to a full blooded serval which would need special care and permits. The serval can have an amazingly domestic temperament if raised up properly. The Savannah has retained the elegant look of the Serval with its magnificent coat, extremely long legs and neck, pear shaped face, and large rounded ears and black spots Most savannahs have the cheetah markings running from the inside corner of the eyes to the nose. The size and color along with the spots make these cats a most impressive and prized companion. The average male should grow to be approximately this size. Length:30" or more Height to shoulder: 15" Outstretched length (front to rear paws): 46" Weight: 18 - 29 lbs. While the Savannah resembles the Serval in looks, its temperament is warm and loving, like its domestic relatives. It eats both canned and dry cat food, uses a litter box and does well
with other in-home pets. . article one article two
