Marsascala Sports Club was established in 1974 after the first water polo club in the village, M’Scala A.S.C. was dissolved 2 years previously due to internal conflicts. Since then the club has won the following honors:

1975      2ND DIVISION LEAGUE CHAMPIONS

PARTICIPATION IN L.E.N. THROPHY IN CHIOS, GREECE

1998      RUNNERS UP WINTER’S LAEGUE

3RD PLACE NATIONAL LEAGUE

PARTICIPATION IN L.E.N. CHAMPIONS CUP WITH VICTORIES AGAINST HORGEN OF SWITZERLAND AND USTI NAD LABEM OF CZECH REPUBLIC

Other important dates for the club include the construction of the new platform at the clubhouse in 1991, the re-opening of the ex-National Pool under the management of the club in 1995, the construction of the new clubhouse in 1999.

 Marsascala Sports Club has contributed a good number of players to the Maltese National Water polo Team. This year it was again represented by the player John Licari, Ian Bugeja, Tony Galea and Paul Privitera. Several renowned foreign players have also carried Marsascala Sports Club’s colours. The most famous player was definitely Igor Gocanin, winner of an Olympic medal with Yugoslavia in Seoul’88 and also World Champion on more than one occasion. He played with Marsascala in 1996.
