Surf Life Saving Victoria

SLS-V will have the Fixed wing aircraft callsign is DASAR 1 (Direct Air Search and Rescue)

DASAR BASE is at Essendon Airport, its company channel frequency is 128.900MHz

DASAR 1 - is fitted with simplex and repeater channels, DASAR 1 is controlled by Surf Rescue Command and will only change to a simplex channel if an incident is occuring at a specific location.

Surf Life Saving Frequencies -

Simplex A 484.950
Simplex B 485.000
Simplex C 485.150

Simplex A and B are alternated between each club along the Victorian Coast line

The Simplex C is used on Philip Island

The repeater Channel is 486.950 MHz and the network (Lakes Entrance to Apollo Bay) is 'controlled' by SURF RESCUE COMMAND

*Regions whos radio control is "Vicfire" - there is no need to worry about linking frequencies in these instances.

I have found that you are not always able to hear both sides of the conservations using the VHF frequencies above. You should try listening to one of the CFA's many UHF linking frequencies. There isn't a full list of these available (I have tried). The list above, was started last year, if you are able to update anything please let me know.

My advice if your area isn't covered. 1 - E-Mail Scanning Victoria and ask.....some weeks there are many updates sent in, and it takes a few days to put them on the web site. 2 - Scan from approx 413 - 415, 450 - 451 & 460 - 461MHz Your local linking frequency is bound to be there.

Erickson Helitanker kept at Essendon Airport
Callsign is Eric 44 or sometimes Erickson 44
And is fitted out with all the gear.

The CFA are no longer using 131.4500MHz as their primary air - air frequency.
They are now using:
132.5500 as well as 135.5500, 128.9000, 126.4000
And the NRE (DNRE) - are also said to be using:
The NRE are using 132.5500, 135.5500, 128.9000 , 119.1000


Marine

If you are on the coast you should be able to monitor; The Australian Volunteer Coast Guard, Melbourne Radio as well as The Victorian Channels Authority.

Coast Gurad monitor the following channels and frequencies:

27.880MHz 27.860MHz
VHF Marine channel 16 (156.800MHz)
Marine HF - 2182, 2524

Melbourne Radio VIM monitors and can sometimes be heard on these frequencies

Traffic Lists
HF-2201, 4426, 6507, 8176 Khz:
Operator can be heard on VHF 67(?) which is 156.375MHz

Distress & Calling Frequencies
2182, 4125, 6215, 8291kHz and VHF channel 16 - 156..800MHz

International - 12,290 & 16,420kHz (between 7AM - 7PM)
