Gidday there! Well?? About me. I was told to keep this short so I will
do so without taking it personally!
An adventurer by nature, applied entomologist by trade, and a scarab-lover
by heart, I jumped at the opportunity to spend a few years lapping-up more
scarab action and adventure than you could anywhere else but here in South
Africa. So here I am, deep into a doctoral thesis project with an objective
to phylogenetically test whether feeding specialization within the "dung
beetle" tribe, Scarabaeini, is mediated by evolution. To tackle this,
I am combining trendy morphological and molecular techniques to solidly
test several hypotheses.
That's not all! What about Millipede Necrophagy!! I am also revising the
enigmatic and most specialized of the scarabaeine genera, Sceliages
Westwood. Sceliages feed and reproduce exclusively on millipedes
(Diplopoda) and until now, all hypotheses regarding the biology of this
genus have been mere speculation. Many questions have already been resolved
with success for the first time ever in obtaining brood balls and larvae.
For further information on what else I have been up to until now, please
have a squiz at my CV. Life's an adventure!
