Ridiculous Beats |
The 2002 release of his debut solo album, "Boom!!! Midwest Ballaz," featured several guest appearances and gave fans a glimpse of the diversity of Ridiculou Beats when rapping, singing, or producing his own beats. The up-and-coming independent producer/emcee first began to recognize his talents at a young age. RB's abilities have allowed him to work with many different artists, although he still holds down a full-time job, waiting for the opportunity to take his music to the next level. What he really needs is management and promotion channels that are hard to find in the hip-hop community of the Manhattan, KS area. So what makes RB different from other artist? "I try to make beats that are different from everything else out there, but still have that familiarity to them. Something that would catch my attention if I were the listener. As far as my lyrics, I like to talk about personal things everyone can relate to, like relationships, male/female interaction, some social issues. But I REALLY love to make songs that are tongue-in-cheek." Of course Ridiculous is talking about his nack for writing humorous songs about things ranging from break-ups, to pick-ups. "I'm not a big fan of straight up party music---songs that are overly catchy and repetitive, I like to make songs that people will listen to and wonder what the hell it was they just heard." Ridiculous says he's not into music for the money, which is evident by his low key promotion so far. Although he would like to take his music to a level where he can dedicate 100% of his time to it and not have a steady day job, he insists he won't do this at the cost of selling out. "I just want to make original music that people will enjoy and see where it takes me. I can't stand cookie-cutter music that's only about money, cars, and hos. I'm not that materialistic." As of Christmas 2004, Ridiculous says he is in the process of finalizing over 20 tracks for his upcoming album, which is yet to be titled and will be released sometime in 2005. "I will ABSOLUTELY give my fans a strong dose of my usual ear-drum rattling beats, some funny stories, and a side order of reality." |
