| April 6, 1999---THESE RULES APPLY TO THE HALL OF FAME ELECTIONS, STARTING WITH THE MAY 1999 ELECTION.
I. At least 12 different voters must participate before an election can be considered valid.
II. The elections will be scheduled to end as of midnight, the last day of each month, consistent with the way the elections in the past have been held. If at the end of the month, at least 12 different people have not voted, a notice to that effect will be posted at the top of the ballot page, the Hall of fame Home page, the Hall of Fame exhibition Page, and the SCURK.COM Home Page. That notification will include how many more voters are needed in order to conclude the Hall of Fame election.
III. No member of the Hall of Fame may be elected with the support of any less than than 4 different voters. In other words, Every winning image must have received at least some votes from at least four different people. In addition, that image must either lead the total vote catagory or the support by voters catagory to be declared a winner in the Hall of Fame. Ties do count as wins. Note: this paragraph was rewritten on Nov 1,1999 because of confusing wording in prior publication. This confusion did not effect the results of the Nov 1 election, but could have if the voting had been different.
IV. In those cases where the election must be extended notice will be given when the minimum of 12 different voters have voted, notice to that effect will be posted at the tops of the same pages that were listed above. The election will end 48 HOURS after this final notice appears.
V. NOMINATIONS . I will allow up to 4 nominations per person per month, which you should send to me via email attachment. It is strongly recommended that you include favorite image you like from other peoples work as well as those you have produced yourself. Sending nominations to me does not in any way insure your placement on the ballot. I choose the ballot choices from a pool of all images available to me, including those which have been sent to me as nominations. I attempt to pick the images of highest quality for inclusion on the Hall of Fame Ballot, regardless of their source.
VI. The NOMINATIONS PAGE, includes the images of all known former images that at some time were on a ballot for the Hall of Fame will still be posted as Former Hall of Fame Nominees. After all, it an honor to even be listed on the ballot. Remember these images are always eligible to be selected to reappear on the Hall of Fame Ballot, and each ballot tends to have a least a few of them included.
DETAILED INSTRUCTIONS FOR VOTING
- USE ONLY THE EMAIL ADDRESS PROVIDED ON THE MONTHLY BALLOT
- THE SUBJECT OF YOUR EMAIL SHOULD BE -VOTE -SCURK HALL OF FAME
- THE BODY (CONTENT) OF YOUR EMAIL MUST BE RESTRICTED TO YOUR VOTE...
- DO NOT ADD OTHER COMMENTS IN THAT IT COULD CAUSE IMPROPER SORTING OF MY EMAIL AND THUS COULD RESULT IN YOUR VOTE NOT BEING COUNTED
- YOU MAY VOTE FOR 1, 2, 3 OR 4 SCURK IMAGES, BY USING THE LETTERS FOUND NEXT TO EACH IMAGE.
The Hall of Fame uses what is known as the Cumulative Voting system. It works as follows. In this system you have four votes per Month. FOR EXAMPLE, if you want to give all 4 of your votes to IMAGE Z, simply send me the vote as the body of the email using the four letter word ZZZZ ...If you wanted to split your vote between IMAGE Z AND IMAGE Y, you would do so by simply sending me any four letter word containing 2 Z's and 2 Y's. (for example YYZZ or YZYZ or YZZY ....If you want to vote for three different Images, do so by sending me a four letter word containing the three candidates you wish to vote for, using the one you like best twice (For example XYZZ or XXYZ )....Any combination of four letters is acceptable, so long as those letters are listed next to the Images on that months ballot... There have been a couple of examples where people have tried to trick the outcome of the elections. Remember, The rule is ONLY ONE BALLOT PER PERSON PER MONTH WILL BE PERMITTED. The ballots are checked for duplicates sent from the same address. If more than one person must use the same email address to vote, email me prior to voting, telling me of your situation. I will send specific instructions in such cases. Violation of this policy will void any future participation in SCURK HALL OF FAME activities. You need not sign the ballot, but email addresses will be recorded and verified where possible if there is any question about its origin. Any one person is NOT allowed to use multiple email addresses in order to vote more than once. After all, cheating to cause an image to be elected to the Hall of Fame would simply mean you had outsmarted the system, not that the image was picked by others to be one of the best SCURKS ever produced. REMEMBER THIS IS ALL MEANT AS GOOD CLEAN FUN. LETS ALL HELP KEEP IT THAT WAY..
INDUCTION INTO THE SCURK HALL OF FAME
IT SHOULD BE EMPHASIZED THAT THERE HAS BEEN NO CHANGES INVOLVING THE ACTUAL INDUCTION INTO THE HALL OF FAME
I. The image receiving the TOP NUMBER OF VOTES ON EACH BALLOT will automatically be inducted into the hall of fame. The image and its author, if known, will be awarded a icon award, and that person may thus lay claim to being a member of the SCURK Mountain Hall of Fame. Anyone displaying the award after that time will be encouraged to display a small icon indicating that image is a Hall of Fame Winner.
II. As of October 1998, the image receiving votes on the most ballots will also automatically be inducted into the SCURK Hall of Fame. In addition, Any image receiving votes on 50% OR MORE of the ballots cast each month, even if for some reason not the leading vote getter will also be elected to the Hall of Fame, and will be entitled to the same privileges as referred to in Number 4 above. This event is possible because of the cumulative voting procedure. Brief rules for voting are found at the bottom of the ballot. In cases of ties in any of the above categories, both of the images involved the tie will be inducted into the Hall of Fame. VOTE HERE April 6, 1999- See new rules for changes in this policy
III. The TWO OR THREE IMAGES WITH THE MOST VOTES WHICH FAIL TO HAVE ENOUGH VOTES FOR INDUCTION INTO THE HALL OF FAME automatically be carried over into the Next Month's Ballot. (ie the next runners-up). If there is a tie in the Runner up category, all SCURKS involved in the tie will also be carried over to the next ballot. STARTING WITH THE JULY 97 COMPETITION, the images appearing on at least 1/3 (but less than 1/2) of all ballots in any given month will also be carried over to the next months ballot. All other nominee's on each Month's ballot will NOT be eligible for re-nomination until after 1 month of absence from the ballot has passed.
IV. The images chosen for the ballot will appear on the ballot unidentified as to the author, etc. However, If you know the name of the author, and the history of the image you are nominating, that information would be appreciated, in that once inducted into the Hall of Fame, I would intend to pay proper honor the images and its author. In the case of an image being chosen that has an unknown past, it will be listed as a permanent member of the Hall of Fame, and an attempt to identify the origin of the image will be made. |
