Confederate History and Heritage Month

April 2007
 

Whereas:           Our country is a nation of people united by a common history of an individual heritage and diverse cultures and Houston County is rich in history of the War Between the States; and,

 
Whereas:           The State of Georgia has long cherished her Confederate history and the great leaders who made sacrifices on behalf of the Confederate cause; and,
 
Whereas:          Confederate Memorial Day has been celebrated in Houston County for many years; and,
 
Whereas:           The month of April bears special significance since it marks both the beginning and the ending of the War Between the States.
 
NOW THEREFORE, I DONALD S. WALKER, Mayor of the city of Warner Robins, Georgia do hereby proclaim April 2007 as "CONFEDERATE HISTORY AND HERITAGE MONTH" in Warner Robins, Georgia and encourage all residents to increase their knowledge of the role played by the Confederate States of America and her people in our country's history.
 
In Witness Whereof I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of Warner Robins to be affixed. This 19th day of March 2007

Confederate Memorial Services for 2007

  • Saturday, April 28, 2007, 4pm at Ft. Valley's Oaklawn Cemetery , southside of Ft. Valley on GA Hwy 49
  • *2007 will be the 141st Annual Confederate Memorial service at Rose Hill Cemetery .
