Elizabeth & Katie's Sim Dog Club
History

Once upon a time, in lands far away from each other, there lived two regal girls named Elizabeth and Katie. These girls had met each other over the Internet and had become instant friends, sharing their love of animals through a simulation equine game. But a dark shadow soon cast its evil spell over their fun, and the two young teens decided it was time to leave their home and build an organized, realistic, and fun kingdom of their own.

In December of 1997, Elizabeth and Katie organized the first Sim Dog Club over the Internet. It consisted of a few basic rules that now can be seen in moderation throughout the "Rules+Guidelines" section of the club's website. Slowly but steadily the girls recruited people that were also tired of the dark kingdom of the Sim Horse Club, and by the end of its first month the club was home to some strong, finely built kennels. Now, 3 1/2 years later, these original establishments are the finest to date.

The club wouldn't be anything without some of the grandest sporting events. The Canine Crown, which resembles horse racing's Triple Crown, is the oldest event to date. It began in May of 1998 with the Jack Derby and continued into the end of May with the Sneaker Stakes and ended in early June with the Water Bowl. The Canine Tiara, which resembles the Canine Crown but is only for females, began in June 1998 with the prep race, the Tiara Trial. The Acorn Stakes, Mama Hen Stakes, and American Oaks continue to prove to the world over that girl power is part of life. Racing just wouldn't be complete without the Canine Cup races. In November of 1998, Katie (who also hosted the Crown & Tiara) established the Canine Cup races. It originally consisted of seven races modeled after the Breeder's Cup, but in 2000 it added an eighth race to the score. Today the Canine Cup races are run in late October and/or early November and consist of the Canine Cup Juvenile, Juvenile Females, Turf, Mile, Distaff, Females, Sprint, and Classic. The Crown, Tiara, and Cup races are the largest of the year. Greyhound racing is not the only sport that proves the poise and champion qualities of the canine world. The Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show comes to the club every year, as well as Crufts, the true best-of-the best, thanks to our great girl, KT.

As with any organization, the Sim Dog Club has had its disappointments in the 3 1/2 years of it's existence. It has faced only one major quarrel in the summer of 2000 which was easily solved with the guidance from the Office, but it has faced many more disappointments. In 1999 the co-creator of the club, Elizabeth, was forced to leave the club because of family commitments and moving. It took only a few months before Elizabeth was back and at action. Unfortunately, Katie and Elizabeth only spent 18 more months together before Katie had to take a tearful step away from her beloved kingdom to pursue her dreams of the 2004 Olympics.

Today, the new and improved Sim Dog Club is starting anew. It is now the summer of 2001 and in 3 1/2 years the Sim Dog Club has grown and prospered. It is for sure the longest-running sim club on the World Wide Web. A new "facelift" has made the club better then ever. Old and new members alike will continue to thrive in this wonderful, mystical land of imagination. Enjoy every moment you have and learn everything you can. The memories and friendships you take away from this club are ones you will never forget.

I trust these two sisters to make great choices, and know you will be happy with them as leaders.
