Photography - Old Photos



 In this photo from the rear center are seven tin type photographs from 1880 to 1896. Right rear are two daguerreotypes large original frame from 1855, smaller case type is Samuel Hewes great nephew of Joseph Hewes (one of the four men who drafted the Declaration of Independence, and one of the first four to actually sign it). Far left is a hand painted portrait miniature of Rose Peppel, 1890, to her right is her son George, 1896. Up front are four cabinet cards of George. The book is titled Elements of Lettering from 1885, was a school primer.


 This Daguerreotype with Gold gilt frame and Gold engraved mat ,measures 8 1/2"x 7 1/4 ". Pictured are Samuel Black Jr.(my Great Great Great Grand Father), His wife Elizabeth Raines Hewes and their daughter. Elizabeth is great niece to Joseph Hewes, and sister to Samuel Hewes below.

 This Daguerreotype of Samuel Hewes is the great nephew of Joseph Hewes (Signer of the declaration of independence). Samuel was born aug 8 1809. When about 45 years old he sailed to Australia as a merchant, he was lost at sea. Tradition has it the ship was captured by pirates and sunk. Samuel was the brother of Elizabeth Raines Hewes Who married Samuel Black Jr.

 Left is a drawing of Mary West Rulon , she was born in 1797, picture found in family bible. Center is an enlargement from a tintype, the Rulon family, standing are Margaret and Anna seated is Tabitha and Benjamin. On the right is Vanroom Robbins, Tabitha's brother who fouught during the Civil War. He was killed at the Battle of Fredricksburg VA. "a shot that went through his lung and into his back". Photos were done primarily in Philadelphia.





 Left is Aunt Phoebe Rulon, sister to Benjamin Rulon, born 1-25-1804 died 2-9-1891. Center is Anna Catherine Rulon, born 1-8-1849 married 4-8-1874 died 4-24-1930. Hewes Vanleer Black's wife, with granddaughters Alice, Dorothy and Winifred. Right is a Rulon descendant with 2 cent proprietary tax stamp on the back. (CDV) Two are small cabinet cards.





 The ladies in the beautiful gowns are Mother ,Elizabeth Haines Rulon Born 9-5-1828 Died 2-13-1905. Married Chalkey Albertson Rulon. Center is their daughter Luella Haines Rulon, Born 1-2-1857 Died 10-19-1935. She married Henry Weatherby Ridgeway. Last Mrs Margaret Robbins Stewart Her husband was Charles Stewart sister of Catherine Middleton Robbins wife of Benjamin Robbins who had Tabitha Robbins who Married Benjamin Rulon, who was the father of Anna Rulon, Who married Hewes Vanleer Black Mother and father of Marmion Stanley Black.




 To the left is a glass plate negative 1896, closeup. To the right a zoomed out print of a different glass plate negative taken moments later. Pictured is Elizabeth Stratton Black ( Marmion's wife). With her brother Samuel.



  To the left is a glass plate negative of Hewes Vanleer Black 1896. The picture to the right is the actual print. Both of these and the one's above were taken by Marmion Stanley Black .




 








My Great Grandfather Dr. Marmion Stanley Black with his brand new 1908 motorcycle,1910 ford, and his very first car left with Dr. Cheesman.

 Left is a Box camera from 1916, #2A Brownie model B. Then another Brownie #2A having patent #s 1894 - 1897 - 1899 - 1902. Both are Eastman Kodak CO. Then a camera from the 50's or 60's.(fair cond.)
