Well, as you all know, on this day Ron Hoag our drummer passed away. This has been a difficult time for Dean and myself, but it is something that we have to deal with. Ron's spirit will always be with the band, even when he isn't. His drumming on Anatomically Incorrect and on the new song Shaggin' the Fist, will serve as a reminder of his talents as a superb percussionist. Without him, the band would not be what it has been for the past 3 years.

We got together on Saturday and Monday night and worked on Shaggin' The Fist again. The song is coming together quite well. Getting these new songs on tape right away is a good idea, I think. Saturday was pretty much spent getting the drums miked up to sound good on tape, and by Monday night, we had our second "rough" recording of the song. This one sounds much better than the last and even includes a bass line played by me (never thought we'd see the day). Dean's in Vancouver this week so hopefully I'll have something new to tell ya next week sometime.

Assman (that's me) and Mr.Hoag got together for a jam and recording session with Dean Dietrich on Sunday. To get things straight right away, Dean has not joined the band. At this time he is unable to commit to playing with the band for any length of time, so officially, we are still seeking a new guitarist and bass player. He may, though, decide to join at a later date. That said, Dean is working with us now to get tracks on tape of songs old and new. First up is a new song, SHAGGIN' THE FIST. I wrote the lyrics for Shaggin'... on Sept.14/1997. Dean and I gave it music on Nov.14, 1998. Ron, Dean and I worked on the arrangement on Nov.15, 1998. We recorded a very rough first version with drums, guitar and vocals. We'll be working on this song for the next two weeks and hopefully we'll have a good demo version recorded by then. Other songs that are planned to have demo versions worked on are NEW BEGINNING and WAITING FOR MY SKYHOOK, SDFS classics that have never had good recorded versions. All this recording work is being done on digital 8-track. I'm pretty excited about the way things are going, and I'll keep you all informed about the latest happenings. By the way, I'm actually picking up the ol' bass guitar, and may even play it myself for some of the recordings. Am I ever rusty.
