Sea Drag'n

The weather forecast was bruttle and several of the east coast tournaments canceled due to the approaching Hurricane Jean. The OBO KMT committee decided to try and make the event happen.

I arrived down on Thursday and spent most of the morning catching speckle trout. The trout bite usually starts about the end of September and this year appears to be a good season. Caught my limit of 2-3 lbers in my Honey Hole. (All my king spots are well known, but the trout holes will never get out..LOL). After changing gears I headed to another slick spot and worked on some pre-tourney ribbonfish. They also co-operated and in 2 hours as the tide was perfect, I loaded up on about 2 dozen.

The next day was spent looking some bait options and cleaning up the boat. Dad got down late on Friday and the weather forecast was so bad I talked Lauren out of coming down. Sis and Brent had other obligations and could not get down.

We loaded up the Sea Drag'n at about 5:00 am Saturday and set out to catch some early morning bluefish before light. We located a well lit area that had lots of lights and the blues were thick feeding on the glass minnows. I threw the Calusa on the thrashes of thunder in the water and allowed the net to sink. As it got to the bottom the rope began its violent shake telling me I had been rewarded. As I drug the net overboard 3 to 4 dozen shad and bluefish hit the deck. The day was starting off right.
