Chou (Butterfly)
DaTe:12th grade, first semester 2oo5
CLaSS:AP art studio
MeDiuM:vine and compressed charcoal
aBouT:I drew this when we went on a field trip for AP art. How can I possibly draw figures from a clothed model after I finally got used to having a nude one? Yeah, that was weird...
('chou' means butterfly)

aBouT:This is what I came up with for last year when Ms. Rhodes gave us that list of titles to create art work from. This was called boogie... It freaks me out...

William Blake in Flemland
DaTe:11th grade, second semester 2oo5, june
CLaSS:draw and design 2
MeDiuM:watercolor, enamel
aBouT:This is probably the best painting I've ever done. The still life stipulation for last year's final exam was to use at least one of the items in any way (ridiculously easy!). I used two, the little Jesus cross-thing, and a large wrought-iron dragon. The splatters are enamel paint (the kind used for models and stuff). Stupid Katie ruined several of her favorite brushes with that paint... Who knew enamel paint was water-resistant? Oh? Everyone but me? Yeah, well, screw you guys. My poor brushes...
I thought the dragon kinda looked like the dragon off of "Red Dragon" (the movie and the book). It was a painting by William Blake (the dragon) and I liked it lots (cause dragons are awesome!). The cross looked like a piece of an altar and the style was sixteenth century Flemish art. When I took art history the first time (I'm taking it again cause it's the best class ever!) on the test about renaissance art in Northern Europe, I forgot which region 'Flemish' art was from, so in my haste, I wrote 'Flemland'. This was, of course, incorrect (the region was called 'Flanders'... >.>, but my teacher thought it was funny, so I got half-credit. Thus, I entitled this peice 'William Blake in Flemland'.
This one is definitely going into my AP portfolio.
