Personality: Manta's a lovable, loyal little twerp. He loves Yoh to the bitter end, and is very respectful of his friends. He's smart, and is constantly going to cram school. And yet, he tends to be a little (ne, little?) freaked out whenever the ghosts first pop up, and while he's still getting used to the whole Shaman business. This all includes his eyes popping out, his tongue going outta whack and his body completely out of all normal proportions. It's quite hilarious. He's also EXTEREMELY rich, a good cook, and wonderful housekeeper.
History: Manta lived a relatively.. normal life. That is, until he decided to take a shortcut though the graveyard one night and ran into Yoh. Of course, Yoh was hangin' with a few of his ghost friends and this quite frankly scared little Manta to death. No one at school beleived him. But after some time, Yoh warmed up to him--and realized that Manta, too, could see the ghosts. So they because the absolute best of friends. Yoh's first human friend at that.
Oh, but after Manta was tortured by Faust. (Yes, tortured, and it was terribly awful too. I couldn't watch it at ALL.) Yoh realized that maybe he was putting Manta in danger. So he fed him a story that he didn't want anything to do with him anymore. This broke poor Manta's little heart. But, with the help of Ryu, Manta went to Yoh's house and got him back! ^_^
Since Manta isn't really a shaman, he can't participate in the tournament. Therefore, he mostly hangs around doing odd jobs for Anna.
Family:
Oyamada Mansumi: Father. He's really mean too. -.-; He only loves Manta because he'll take over the company. Midget too. So at least we KNOW Manta's parents. XD
Oyamada Keiko: Mother. She's... pretty nice. And kinda just there.
Oyamada Manuko: Sister. See the recurring 'Man-' theme? Minus the mother. But still. She's a brat. Big time brat--nothing like her dear, sweet brother.

(in the anime, not the manga) Manta DOES Oversoul in the latter part of the series! ^__^ His spirit is Mosuke. Cool, ne? Amidamaru and Mosuke... Yoh and Manta.
